YouTube opens up access to free Playables games for all users
YouTube has announced the expansion of the free catalog of Playables games, available to all users, including Ukrainians, after a limited launch of the program.
Game Catalog
Available Games
The YouTube platform offers more than 75 free popular games such as Angry Birds Showdown, Words of Wonders, Cut the Rope, Tomb of the Mask and Trivia Crack, which can be played directly on the site. To access the Playables catalog, users must go to YouTube on a computer or an iOS or Android mobile device and find it in the Search menu.
App Store Competition
Although Playables games are not monetized through paid downloads or internal purchases that do not violate Apple's rules, they can compete with free-to-play games in the App Store, which are often downloaded by players and generate ad revenue. This could affect Google's advertising business, which is the company's main source of revenue.
Expanding Gaming Presence
YouTube isn't the only company looking to expand its gaming presence. Netflix is also expanding its game catalog, and Epic Games, the developer of Fortnite, intends to launch its game store in Europe, taking advantage of EU legislation. The moves illustrate how companies are using games to bypass App Store fees and increase their own profits.

So, more than 75 free games from famous developers have appeared on YouTube 🎮 This is not bad for those who want to quickly pass the time in line or in transport. Though to be honest, I prefer serious games on my PC or console.

It is interesting that such Playables does not violate the rules of the App Store from Apple 🤔 This is a completely new competitor for free games in the application store. Perhaps Google wants to attract more users to YouTube by offering gaming entertainment.

I think this is a good idea for YouTube 👍 Users can play games while watching ads and the platform gets revenue from ads. The main thing is that the games are of high quality and interesting.

I can imagine how you can organize a streaming and competition of these games on YouTube 🏆 Some of the professional YouTubers could make a whole channel dedicated to Playables. It would be great!

These new fads are nonsense 🙄 Why do you even need games on YouTube? Are there few gaming platforms? It's just Google's attempt to cash in on ads, as usual.

Grzegorz, don't be such a pessimist! 😄 At the end of the day, every company wants to make money, but that doesn't mean they can't offer interesting and useful things to their users at the same time.

I'm more interested in whether there are any AAA games planned for Playables 🕹️ Currently there are mostly simple and casual projects, but it would be cool if serious game hits appeared.

Did you know that Netflix has also started offering games to its subscribers? 🎮 It seems that major streaming platforms want to become universal entertainment hubs for users.
