The leading telecommunications companies of Ukraine - Vodafone, "Kyivstar" and "Datagroup" - announced large-scale investments worth more than 39 billion hryvnias in the development of telecommunications within the framework of a memorandum of cooperation with the Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine and the regulator in the field of electronic communications.

During the presentation of Ukraine's electronic communications development strategy until 2030, the leading telecommunications companies operators Vodafone, "Kyivstar" and "Datagroup" concluded a memorandum of cooperation with the Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine and the National Commission that regulates the spheres of electronic communications, radio frequency spectrum and postal communication. The event was attended by a journalist from ELBUZ.
Operators' investment plans
The CEO of Vodafone reported that during the full-scale invasion of Russia into Ukraine the company invested UAH 9.3 billion in the development of telecommunications and announced additional investments in the amount of UAH 10 billion in this industry.
The head of Datagroup-Volya, which will soon merge with lifecell, announced investments in telecommunications in the amount of 5.5 billion hryvnias
As part of the memorandum, Kyivstar plans to invest $600 million (over UAH 23.5 billion) during 2024-2026, focusing on infrastructure projects, expanding 4G coverage, and developing digital services.
Initiatives of the Ministry of Digital Affairs
Minister of Digital Transformation Mykhailo Fedorov emphasized the importance of high-quality communication for building a "convenient state". The Ministry of Digital Affairs has set the goal of providing 99% of Ukrainians with a fixed connection.
- As of today, 18,000 settlements have access to high-speed Internet. 1 million Ukrainians got access to it for the first time, and 3,300 villages and 7,700 social institutions were connected.
- In addition, 2.7 million Ukrainians in 8,300 villages got access to 4G for the first time.
- According to Fedorov, preparations are being made for the introduction of 5G, which is already used all over the world. We will remind that in February "Kyivstar" received permission from NKEK to test this technology. The adopted law "On electronic communications" accelerated the process of building stations for connecting communications.
During the full-scale invasion, 4,300 mobile base stations and 25% of fixed networks were destroyed or damaged.
