Skyeton: Ukrainian drone manufacturer conquers Slovakia with $3.5 million investment
Ukrainian drone manufacturer Skyeton is expanding its presence on the international market by opening production in Slovakia. This allows the company to bypass restrictions related to the martial law in Ukraine and increase its opportunities on the world market.
Skyeton expansion
New plant in Slovakia
The Ukrainian company Skyeton, known for its unmanned aerial vehicles, has started production of Raybird drones in Slovakia in the spring of 2024. According to the founder of the company Oleksandr Stepura, $3.5 million was invested in this project. This decision was taken as insurance in case Russian missiles damage the Ukrainian plant.
Advantages of foreign production
Opening production abroad solves several problems for Skyeton. First, it allows you to bypass export restrictions related to the martial law in Ukraine. Second, it makes it possible to set more flexible prices, including development costs, which cannot be done in Ukraine due to markup restrictions. In addition, it opens up wider opportunities for the sale of drones to EU and NATO countries.
Future plans
Currently, the Slovak plant is capable of producing 25 intelligence systems per year. However, Skyeton plans to quadruple that capacity after completing a new round of investment. For this, the company is raising $15 million in additional funding. In addition, Oleksandr Stepura expanded his business in Slovakia, opening the production of Homers modular houses there.
Raybird features
The Raybird-3 drones manufactured by Skyeton are designed for both civilian and special-purpose long-duration reconnaissance missions. The cost of one complex is $1.2 million and includes three aircraft, ground control stations, an antenna system, a launcher and various surveillance equipment.
These drones are distinguished by their endurance: they can stay in the air for up to 28 hours and cover a distance of up to 2,500 km at an altitude of up to 4,500 m. This makes them practically invisible to electronic warfare systems. Raybird competes with only five global manufacturers in terms of weight and flight duration, while having a significantly lower price.

Wow! Skyeton is expanding to Slovakia! This is great news for the Ukrainian tech industry. I wonder how this will affect their competitiveness in the European market? 🤔
Marco
I agree, Olena! It's really impressive. $3.5 million investment is serious. But I'm more interested in how they plan to compete with local manufacturers in the EU? 🇪🇺

Guys, you forget the main thing - Raybird-3 can fly for 28 hours! This is incredible. Imagine how many opportunities this opens up for intelligence and monitoring. 🦅
Olena
Sophie, you are right! And this flight height of up to 4,500 m is actually invisibility for EW systems. Probably, that is why the Ukrainian military ordered so many of them. 💪🇺🇦

Oh, once again everyone is excited about these newfangled toys. If you think about it, it flies high and long. And what, how will it break? Who will be responsible for damages? And in general, why do we need so many drones?
Marco
Günther, you are a grumbler! 😄 This is progress! Such technologies save lives and make intelligence safer. In addition, these are new jobs for Slovaks and Ukrainians. Isn't it cool?

It amazes me that Skyeton also manufactures Homers modular homes. It's such a variety! I wonder how they combine such different directions? 🏠✈️
Sophie
Alicia, I thought about that too! Maybe they use similar technologies or materials? In any case, it shows their flexibility and innovation. Skyeton is clearly not afraid to experiment! 🚀
