Vocation is a combination of work and rest, which is becoming more and more popular among employees. However, before choosing this format, it is worth weighing all the pros and cons, taking into account personal needs and work responsibilities.

What is workation?
During the vacation period, some employees experience difficulties with complete disconnection from the work process. They try to combine rest with the performance of official tasks. This phenomenon was called "workation".
But is this really the optimal solution? To whom is this format of vacation best suited and what consequences can it have? These questions are answered by Petro Chornomorets, candidate of biological sciences, co-founder and head of the methodology of the "Change Makers" project, a teacher of the Kyiv-Mohyla business school and the "Future" school in his author's column for ELBUZ.
Reasons for choosing a vacation
First of all, it is important to understand why a person chooses a vacation instead of a full vacation. It depends on how exactly such a format of rest should be organized. Let's consider six main reasons:
1. Personal responsibility
When an employee has a task that cannot be delegated to others, it is worth critically evaluating the situation: is it really impossible to delegate the work, or is it a manifestation of excessive control? Even if delegation is not possible, tasks should be divided into those that can be postponed, delegated, or that cannot be delegated at all. It is important to determine the scope of the latter and the degree of control over their implementation.
If personal responsibility is the only reason for refusing a full vacation, it is worth localizing the working hours as much as possible. processes. For example, allocate specific hours on certain days of the week to solve work issues, and devote the rest of the time to rest.
2. Company requirements
When a company forces an employee to go on vacation instead of a full vacation, it can negatively affect the quality of rest due to constant external pressure. In such a situation, it is important to discuss with the management exactly which needs of the company cannot be met without your participation and why exactly you should perform these tasks during your vacation.
If the manager insists on working, despite the possibility of delegating tasks, this may indicate about problems in the corporate culture that can complicate further work and maintaining physical and mental health.
3. State of "overclocking"
When a person has worked intensively and is in a state where he is unable to fully rest due to excessive activity of motivational systems, it is important to stop and create conditions for complete rest. Ideally, allocate at least a week without any mandatory tasks.
However, sudden braking can be stressful for the psyche. A gradual approach is recommended: remove all work tasks, create a comfortable environment, engage in simple recreational activities, regularly pay attention to the beauty of the environment and practice short physical exercises.
4. Inability to rest
If a person does not know how to rest, it is important to create a sufficient number of situations where he enjoys daily life. This could be the concept of "hygge" or being in the moment. It is important to learn to enjoy not only the achievement of goals, but also the current state.
5. Escape from anxieties
