NVIDIA RTX 5060: Revolutionizing the world of laptops with GDDR7 memory and lower power consumption
New laptops with NVIDIA RTX 5060 graphics cards promise to be more energy efficient than their predecessors, using GDDR7 memory and consuming less power, which opens up new possibilities for mobile gaming.
Laptops of the future
Revolution in mobile graphics
Head of Chinese Shenzhen Hasee Computer has shared intriguing details about upcoming laptops equipped with NVIDIA RTX 5060 graphics cards. During the press conference, Wu Haijun revealed the key characteristics of these innovative devices.
Energy efficiency to a new level
According to the entrepreneur, laptops with RTX 5060 will demonstrate a significant reduction in power consumption compared to models equipped with RTX 4060. New items will consume only 115 W instead of 140 W, which is typical for the current generation. In addition, these video cards will use advanced GDDR7 memory.
Rumor Confirmation
Information about Blackwell series video cards has already appeared earlier. In particular, Clevo's presentation contained information about reducing the maximum total graphics power (TGP) for four of the six planned models. The GN22-X11 and X9 chips are expected to keep the TGP at 175W, matching the current generation GN21. At the same time, all junior models will be limited to 115 W instead of 140 W, typical for the current line.
Configuration flexibility
It is important to note that the maximum TGP may not apply to all laptops. This value refers to the Max-P variant, which represents the highest specification of the chip. Limited TGP models, formerly known as Max-Q, continue to be popular among laptop manufacturers.
Technical highlights
Preliminary data indicates that the RTX 5060 will retain a 128-bit memory bus. This could mean that the graphics card will likely come with 8GB of memory. The RTX 50 mobile series is expected to be powered by GB203, GB205, GB206 and GB207 GPUs. NVIDIA is also developing the GB202 GPU with an expanded 512-bit memory bus, but its use in laptops is unlikely.

Wow, new video cards from NVIDIA! 🤩 Less energy consumption is cool. I wonder how this will affect laptop performance?
Hans
Yes, Isabella, this is really intriguing. GDDR7 memory sounds promising. Although 8 GB for the RTX 5060 seems a bit small by modern standards. Hopefully they'll make up for it with better architecture.
Sophie
I agree with Hans! 💻 Does anyone know when these laptops are expected to be released? I'm just thinking about buying a new gaming laptop.
Javier
Sophie, NVIDIA usually announces new mobile GPUs at CES in January. So, perhaps the first laptops will appear in the spring of 2024. But these are just my guesses. 🤔
Giovanni
Ha! Another marketing ploy. Less power consumption, but performance will probably drop. Why do you need these constant upgrades? My old laptop still works great.
Isabella
Giovanni, I understand your skepticism, but technology does not stand still. Often new generations offer a better balance of performance and power consumption. This is important for mobility and autonomy.

I wonder how NVIDIA plans to compete with the increasingly popular mobile GPUs from AMD? 🤔 Maybe this is their answer to RDNA 3?

And I was most interested in the information about the GB202 GPU with a 512-bit memory bus. Even though it's not for laptops, it sounds impressive! I wonder what desktop monsters await us? 😍
