Ukraine will host an innovative cyber security hackathon aimed at developing solutions to protect critical sectors from digital threats. The event will bring together experts from various fields and provide grant support for the best projects.

Purpose and format of the event
On July 10, registration for the Cyberseсurity Innovations Hackathon began, the goal of which is to develop innovative solutions to protect the energy industry, the business sector, and other areas from cyber threats. This was reported by the head of the Ministry of Digital Transformation Mykhailo Fedorov.
Those interested can apply for participation through the official site to August 1. The final of the competition will take place on August 10, and the winners will receive financial support for the implementation and development of their projects. Participants will have the opportunity to present their ideas, technological developments, demo versions, full-fledged services, applications or platforms.
Who can participate
The organizers invite both individual specialists and formed teams. The following are invited to participate:
- programmers, network engineers and architects;
- experts and scientists in the field of cyber security;
- students, graduates and young specialists in technological areas;
- professionals with experience in the energy sector;
- startup founders, project and product managers.
Participants can present both new ideas and existing projects.
Organization and support
Cybersecurity Innovation Hackathon will be held in a mixed format: an online stage for team work and an offline final 10 August in Kyiv.
The event is organized by the largest European IT competition DEV Challenge with the support of the Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine and the USAID Project "Cybersecurity of Critically Important Infrastructure of Ukraine". Additional support is provided by the Ukrainian Startup Fund and the UNIT.City innovation park.
Legislative initiatives
It is worth noting that the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine has started work on the legislative definition of the term "cyberwar". This is an important step in countering digital threats, especially relevant after the start of a full-scale Russian invasion. The agency is expected to present legislative proposals by the end of 2024.
