Statistics of applications
From June 2023 to February 2024, the Unified Register of Firearms received 226 thousands of applications for gun ownership. Of these, 93% - 210 thousand applications - were approved. Over time, the number of applications for gun permits is increasing. In the first three months of the registry’s operation, more than 57 thousand applications were submitted, of which 87% were approved. Over the next five months, the number of applications increased to 168 thousand, of which 95% were approved.
Methods of filing applications
At the initial stage of the Unified Register, the main source of filing applications for weapons was a Single Window - more than 65 thousand people used this method. However, subsequently the popularity of this site decreased to 31.1% of the total number of applications. The chatbot helped send applications to 14 thousand citizens, but its share also decreased from every sixth application to 6.9%. Currently, the majority of Ukrainians (61.9%) apply for weapons permits offline.
Functions of the Unified Register
The Unified Register of Firearms in electronic form has been operating since June 23. The online service allows you to create applications for permission to carry, store and purchase weapons, renew permits, and also report a change in place of residence or place of storage of weapons. In addition, the user can obtain information about the firearms registered to him.
