Android 15: Private Space feature - secure folder in a new way
Google will introduce a new feature called "Private Space" in Android 15, which will allow you to safely store personal data and applications in an isolated encrypted section that is not accessible to other users of the device.
Secure Storage
Privacy Protection
Google is committed to the security and privacy of user data . The upcoming version of the Android 15 operating system will introduce a new “Private Space” feature designed to create an isolated encrypted partition on a smartphone or tablet. This section will allow you to store personal files, contacts, photos, applications and other confidential data in a safe place, inaccessible to other users of the device.
Setup and use
To activate "Private Space" you will need to go through an authentication procedure in order to ensure that only the owner of the device can create and access this protected partition. Google recommends using a separate account specifically designated for "Private Space" to ensure complete isolation of personal data. The user can set their own screen lock method or use an existing one for additional protection.
After successful setup, "Private Space" will be displayed as a special icon in the application drawer. By tapping this icon and unlocking, the user will have access to a secure section with their confidential applications and data. This section will come pre-installed with some basic apps such as Camera, Browser, Contacts, Drive, Files, Photos and Play Store. The user will also be able to add other necessary applications to "Private Space".
Additional security measures
To increase your privacy, "Private Space" provides additional settings. For example, you can hide this section from the general list of applications when it is locked, making it difficult for other device users to detect its presence. It is also possible to set "Private Space" to automatically lock after a certain period of inactivity or when switching to another application.
Notifications from apps running in Private Space will be minimized on the lock screen by default to avoid revealing their contents. This option can be changed in the settings. When using applications from the protected section, a special padlock icon will appear in the status bar, reminding you that you are working in isolated mode.

A very interesting feature from Google that can significantly increase the security of personal data. It's nice to see that the company listens to the needs of users :)

I like the idea of a separate space for private data. I often give my phone to children to play with, so this feature will be very useful 👍

I don’t understand why there’s a fuss about this Private Space. Can't you just set a strong password and not hand your phone over to left-field people? 🤔
Anna
Günther, you are probably not very sociable and rarely give your phone to anyone 😉 And some people often pass on gadgets to colleagues, friends, family. Therefore, such a feature will be useful for maintaining privacy.

For me, the main advantage is that the applications from the closed space will be separated from the main ones. This way, nothing personal will accidentally pop up during general use 👌

I think the idea is good, but the implementation seems crude. Need more security and convenience settings. Let's see how it develops 🤷♀️

Last year I lost my phone and someone got access to my personal data. After that, I became much more careful with the security of gadgets. The Private Space feature looks like reliable protection 👍

I'm a little confused that Google recommends creating a separate account for this section. Why is this if it is already separate? 🤔
Günther
Again, all of you are ready to open all doors and windows for the sake of newfangled trends! If you want, you can achieve good security using conventional means 😒

Günther, don't be such a grump 😁 New opportunities are always good. I remember how you first scolded wireless headphones, and then switched to them anyway.

For entrepreneurs, this function may be simply necessary. I have two phones - personal and work. But with Private Space you can get by with one 🤑

Judging by the description, managing this section is quite simple and intuitive. Good job, Google! We are waiting for the release of a stable version 👍

Maybe Google will make it so that when you launch an application from Private Space, it will open in normal multi-window mode? It would be very convenient :)
Juan
I am a responsible person and take data security seriously. Therefore, I will gladly use the new function to more reliably protect my privacy 🔒

It's cool that you can save photos in Google Camera separately from the main gallery! I can’t wait anymore 😍 I wish they would add a separate browser to Private Space...
