The national postal operator of Ukraine "Ukrposhta" intends to enter into an agreement with the United States Postal Service (USPS). This partnership will allow Ukrainian consumers to purchase goods on Amazon and other American shopping platforms with delivery to Ukraine.
Time frame and prospects
Igor Smelyansky, General Director of Ukrposhta JSC, said that an agreement is planned to be reached before the end of this year. It is expected that the new delivery system will begin operating in 2025. “As soon as we sign the agreement, Amazon will become available to Ukrainians,” Smelyansky emphasized in an interview with Interfax-Ukraine.
Delivery mechanism
After the agreement is concluded, goods from Amazon will arrive in Ukraine via the UK. Delivery from London is expected to take just 24 hours. In parallel, negotiations are underway with the British Royal Mail to reduce tariffs for Ukrainian recipients.
Statistics and financial indicators
According to Forbes, in 2023, Ukrposhta processed more than 215 thousand incoming international express shipments -deliveries and sent more than 130 thousand parcels abroad. Currently, the service is available for shipments to more than 130 countries from 27 thousand service points.
Financial results of Ukrposhta for last year show an increase in net income from the sale of goods and services to 11.9 billion hryvnia, which is 19% higher than in 2022. In 2024, revenue is expected to further increase to UAH 14.1 billion.
