For 2023, Ukraine scored 36 points out of a possible 100 in the Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI). This is rated as one of the best results globally. Ukraine's achievements are not limited to general statistics. It is worth emphasizing that Ukraine is ahead of countries such as Algeria, Brazil and Serbia in the ranking. We also have an honorable name together with Albania, Argentina, Belarus, Gambia, Ethiopia and Zambia each have a score of 37. Defending our place on the list, Ukraine is ahead of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Dominican Republic, Egypt, Nepal, Panama, Sierra Leone and Thailand, all of which have the following figure of 35 points.
Ranking of leaders
There were practically no changes in the top leaders of the Corruption Perception Index 2023. Denmark continues to lead the list with a score of 90 points. Finland and New Zealand scored 87 and 85 respectively, followed by Norway in fourth place with 84.
Ukrainian results in the fight against corruption
Thanks to the active work of anti-corruption and other state bodies, Ukraine was able to achieve improvements in this area, even taking into account the war and the threat of corruption. Last year, the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office announced suspicions in 101 criminal proceedings against 257 people. The higher anti-corruption court appropriated 100 indictments against 233 people. Also, 65 decisions, including 83 convictions, were made by NABU.

- Ex-prosecutor Dmytro Sus (9 years in prison, the Appellate Court of the Higher Anti-Corruption Court overturned the 7-year sentence);
- Ex-mayor of Poltava Oleksandr Mamai (agreed to a deal with the investigation, transferred UAH 2 million to the Armed Forces);
- Ex-Minister of Ecology Mykola Zlochevskyi (agreed to a deal with the investigation, transferred UAH 660 million to the Armed Forces and was exempted from a fine of UAH 68,000).
Transparency International Ukraine has developed an action plan to further improve the fight against corruption, consisting of three steps:
- Strengthen the effectiveness of the fight against corruption at the highest level.
- It is more effective to use the assets of the corrupt and henchmen of Russia for the purposes of the state.
- Start the reform of the Accounting Chamber and the State Audit Service of Ukraine.
