Google Chrome on Android now reads web pages aloud: a new voice listening feature
The Chrome browser on Android devices now has an innovative feature to speak the textual content of web pages with a natural voice, providing a convenient way to receive information in audio format.
Audio reading of web pages
Intuitive sound control
You can activate the voice function on devices running the Android operating system through the menu of the advanced functionality of the Chrome browser. After selecting the appropriate menu item, a player will appear on the screen, which will allow you to listen to the text content of the current page in a natural voice, while maintaining the possibility of unhindered navigation and content viewing.
Variety of voice settings
For Ukrainian-language content, users will be able to choose between female and male voices . Meanwhile, for English, you can choose between different accents, including American, British, Indian, and Australian pronunciations. In addition, the voice function allows you to adjust the playback speed from 0.5x to 4x, as well as choose between a calm and a more emotional tone of voice.
Continuous listening
The textual content of the web page will be spoken continuously regardless of whether whether the user switched to another tab or even locked the device. However, when you exit the Chrome browser, playback will pause, but the browser will remember the last position at which the user stopped.

The news about voice reading in Chrome sounds tempting 🎧 Great for the visually impaired or those trying not to spend too much time texting. However, will the rights of content authors not be affected? Not all texts are in the public domain.

Cool feature! 👌 Lately, I am constantly going somewhere, sometimes in a taxi, sometimes on a train, and it is not always possible to concentrate on reading. Now you can listen instead of straining your eyes. This is especially true for long articles or fiction books.

I wish the implementation of this function was full-fledged, with support for different languages, the ability to adjust the tone or tempo of the voice to suit yourself. I would personally choose something in the middle, because too fast a voice is difficult to perceive. 🐢

An infinitely valuable thing 👍 After all, there are often situations when your hands are busy: on the go, driving, while cooking, etc. Previously, you had to use special applications, now this option will be built into the browser. Saving time and effort!

This is again invented by some chimeras 🙄 It's as if you can't read a book in the usual way. What are they not wasting time on! Next, they will start writing books themselves instead of authors. It is disgusting to see this.

In my opinion, it is also convenient for people who regularly work with texts. For example, editors, proofreaders or translators could listen to the content instead of reading it. However, one should be careful about inconsistencies with the original in the case of dubbing. 👂

Interesting thing! However, there are concerns that the new feature may interfere with other apps on the phone, especially if it's running in the background. It is quite possible that its implementation will be resource-intensive. But let's wait and see how it will work in practice. 🤔

This is a great thing for learning foreign languages! 🌍 You will be able to listen to news, articles or audiobooks in this language and better learn the correct pronunciation. In addition, in the case of an unfamiliar word, it can be immediately seen visually in the text. Really useful for linguists!
