Exposure of the century: how an Amazon employee receives $400,000 for doing nothing
A senior Amazon technician admitted to receiving a high salary for doing minimal work, sparking controversy online.
Amazon Shenanigans
Employee Recognition
High-Ranking Technical Specialist Amazon shared information on social networks that he was able to receive significant compensation without doing much work. The employee has been worried about possible exposure for some time, but the e-commerce giant has yet to discover his ruse.
Employment History
“A year and a half ago, I joined Amazon after leaving Google. My goal was to “do nothing”, get paid and eventually get exposed,” a specialist anonymously told on Reddit (via hindustantimes ).
Job details
The employee specified that he was a senior manager in one of the technical departments with an annual salary of $370,000. “Without exaggeration, I did not complete any of the main tasks,” he added, referring to Amazon’s internal personnel evaluation system.
Minimum contribution
During the entire period of work, the specialist processed only 7 requests and implemented one automated information panel, created in 3 days using ChatGPT (although I told management that it took 3 months). The manager noted that he continues to work at Amazon, spending most of his 8-hour workday in meetings.
Public reaction
The post, later circulated on Twitter, caused mixed reactions:
"This man is undermining the system for those who actually want to work hard and be rewarded for honest work."
“An employee who works 2 hours a day, gets paid 8 hours a day and devotes the free time to his personal life, family and hobbies is a winner in this life.”

Wow! $370,000 a year for doing nothing? I'm shocked! 😱 I wonder how long he can last like this before he gets discovered?
Hans
Honestly, I admire his courage. But doesn't this harm the company and colleagues? 🤔 Although, if Amazon hasn’t noticed in 1.5 years, perhaps the problem is in their management system.

Isabella, Hans, don't you think this might just be trolling? Sounds too good to be true. Using ChatGPT to create a dashboard is genius though! 😂

Guys, maybe he’s just very effective? Perhaps he gets the job done faster than others and has more free time. I know people who are just as productive in less time. 💪
Gerhard
Bullshit! In my time, you would have been fired immediately for this. Young people have become completely insolent - they want everything at once, without making any effort. Disgrace!
Camille
Pierre, I agree, it sounds suspicious. But if this is true, then Amazon clearly needs to rethink its performance measurement system. And ChatGPT is a great tool for optimizing work! 🚀
Aleksander
Sofia, you're right! Maybe he's just a super-efficient worker. Gerhard, times are changing and you need to adapt. The result is important, not the number of hours at the computer. 😉

Guys, could you do this? I think that the constant fear of exposure is not worth that kind of money. Although, perhaps it really does everything necessary, just very quickly? 🤷♀️
