uBlock Origin Lite disappears from Firefox: developer conflict with Mozilla
The developer of the popular content blocking extension uBlock Origin Lite has stopped supporting it in the Firefox store from -due to disagreements with Mozilla, but offers alternative installation methods.
Conflict with Mozilla
Uninstalling uBlock Origin Lite
The popular uBlock Origin Lite extension, designed to filter inappropriate web content, is no longer available in the official Firefox add-on catalog. This decision was the result of disagreements between the creator of the extension and the Mozilla team.
Reasons for the conflict
Raymond Hill, author of uBlock Origin Lite, attributed his decision to an "illogical and unfriendly verification process" from the employees of the Mozilla extension store. Back in September, all versions of uBlock Origin Lite were flagged as violating the platform's rules. Moderators claimed that the extension collects user data and contains code created by artificial intelligence. Hill has denied these accusations, saying they are baseless for anyone with basic knowledge of JavaScript.
Alternative installation methods
Firefox users who wish to continue using uBlock Origin Lite are now prompted to download current version from GitHub, which supports automatic updates. Even though Mozilla admitted its mistake and apologized, the developer did not change his decision.
Availability of other versions
It's worth noting that the original version of uBlock Origin is still available in the Firefox store. The Lite version, based on Manifest V3, features lower consumption of system resources such as CPU time and RAM.
Chrome Situation
Hill previously recommended that Chrome users upgrade to uBlockOrigin Lite after the original version was flagged as incompatible with the transition to MV3. However, there are methods to work around this limitation.

Oh, what a shame that uBlock Origin Lite is no longer available for Firefox! 😕 I'm so used to it. Does anyone know if there is a decent alternative?
Hans
Sophia, I heard that AdGuard does a good job of blocking ads too. Maybe it's worth a try? 🤔 Although, of course, it’s a pity that such a convenient tool as uBlock Origin Lite has disappeared.

Guys, don't you think that this may be related to some serious security problems? 🔒 Mozilla removed the extension for a reason, probably?
Sophia
Hans, thanks for the advice! I'll try AdGuard. Amelie, I read that the developer of uBlock denied all the accusations. Looks like there's some kind of misunderstanding between him and Mozilla 🤷♀️

Eh, you're all about your blockers... The Internet used to be better without all this nonsense! Why block anything at all? Just don’t go to sites with advertising, that’s all! 😒
Pedro
Giovanni, times are changing, friend! 😄 Advertising is now everywhere, even on the most decent sites. Blockers are not a whim, but a necessity for comfortable surfing. By the way, has anyone tried installing uBlock Origin Lite directly from GitHub?
Olena
I installed it from GitHub and it works great! 👍 True, it’s a little unusual to update manually. But now I almost feel like a hacker 😎 Pedro, I recommend trying it!
Hans
Olena, cool! Aren't you afraid that without Mozilla checking, some malicious code might creep into the extension? 🕵️♂️ Although, if the developer is reliable...
