Qualcomm Snapdragon X Plus: a revolutionary processor for Windows laptops
Qualcomm has unveiled the new Snapdragon X Plus processor for Windows laptops, based on the Oryon architecture. According to the manufacturer, it is superior in performance to Apple M3 chips and has higher energy efficiency.
Snapdragon X Plus Processor
Technical Specifications
The Snapdragon X Plus is a 10-core processor consisting of six high-performance and four energy-efficient cores. The maximum clock speed of each core reaches 3.40 GHz, subject to temperature restrictions. The chip has 42 MB of cache and is manufactured using TSMC's 4nm process technology. The Adreno graphics accelerator provides performance up to 3.8 TFLOPS, and the neural processing unit (NPU) demonstrates speeds up to 45 TOPS.
Memory and multimedia capabilities
Snapdragon X Plus supports up to 64GB LPDDR5X RAM with a throughput of 8448 MT/s. Thanks to the Qualcomm Spectra ISP, laptops based on this chip will be able to get improved cameras with a resolution of up to 64 MP or two cameras of 36 MP each. The processor also supports 4K HDR video recording using a single camera.
Communication capabilities
The Snapdragon X Plus is equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon X65 5G modem, which provides support multiple bands and allows you to connect to most cellular networks in the world. In addition, the chip supports Qualcomm FastConnect 7800, Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4 wireless standards, providing extensive connectivity.
Performance and Energy Efficiency
According to Qualcomm, the Snapdragon X Plus is about 10% faster than Apple's M3 processor, but uses half the power. When running at maximum power, the chip consumes 54% less power than the Intel Core Ultra 7 155H or AMD Ryzen 9 7940HS. However, the gaming performance has not yet been revealed by the company.
