New emoji have been added to Unicode, including fingerprint, shovel, harp, leafless tree, beetroot, puddle, and baggy face, available on iPhone and other devices.
Emotions in the update
Seven new characters
The Unicode 16.0 update includes seven new emojis, which will soon appear on smartphones and other gadgets. New symbols include a fingerprint, shovel, harp, bare tree, beetroot, puddle or splash of water, and a tired face with bags under its eyes, which is likely to become one of the most sought-after emojis.
Beta testing period
Beta testing of new emoji will last until July 2, after then the release of Unicode 16 will be officially approved. It usually takes mobile device manufacturers some time to create illustrations for newly approved emoji. Therefore, it is expected that the new emoji will appear on the iPhone after the release of iOS 18, presumably in March 2025 with the release of the iOS 18.4 update.
Previous update
Unicode's previous Emoji 15.1 update added symbols such as the phoenix, brown mushroom, and gender-neutral family emoji.

Ugh, why do we even need all these new emoji? 😒 In my time, we used simple text and everything was clear. These emojis are just a waste of time and resources.
