Warnings on the use of AI
The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopted in the first reading a draft law that regulates the issue of academic integrity. The document establishes rules and restrictions on the use of artificial intelligence (AI) for the creation of scientific works, and also determines the punishment for violating these rules. According to the project, a person cannot be considered the author of an academic work if it is completely generated by a computer program in automatic mode. However, it is allowed to use AI as an auxiliary tool, provided that it is properly referenced in the method of creating the work.
Integrity check
Educational institutions are obliged to check works for violations of academic integrity, which they publish or publish in publications founded by them. The publisher has the right to refuse publication or to withdraw an already published work if a violation of the principles of integrity is found in it.
Sanctions for violations
The law provides for four types of measures to respond to violations of academic integrity: educational measures, bringing to academic or disciplinary responsibility, responding to violations during competitions and institutional responses. Among the possible punishments are exclusion from the academic council, deprivation of the right to participate in competitions for receiving grants, expulsion from the educational institution, deprivation of a scientific degree, academic title or qualification category, as well as dismissal from the institution.
Term of sanctions
Sanctions for violation of academic integrity can be applied from one to three years. Simultaneous application of several sanctions is allowed.

It is interesting that the adoption of the law on integrity provides punishment for plagiarism and the use of AI in scientific works 🤔 Honest work and originality should be a priority in the academic environment.

Yes, I agree. Although, unfortunately, many people use AI to make writing papers easier. This is unfair to those who work honestly 😕

But what about students who really don't have enough time or resources to do the work? AI can help them cope 🤷♀️ It is unlikely that blind punishment is the solution to the problem.

Okay, everyone fell into these technologies 🙄 But using AI is laziness! It corrupts human intelligence and diligence. In my time, we sat in libraries and honestly squeezed every line out of ourselves! And now - everything is completely automated, Yun was completely searching.

The old man is already mumbling in his own way 😂 Progress cannot be stopped, Ostap! It is necessary to find a balance between using innovations and maintaining high academic standards. AI is a tool that can make work easier, but it cannot replace critical thinking.

I support! 👏 AI is just a convenient assistant for finding information, structuring text or editing. But the final result must be the student's own work. It is important to teach them to use such technologies competently.

Totally agree! 💯 I am convinced from my own experience that AI can be a useful assistant in studying complex material or preparing presentations. But it cannot replace deep understanding of the topic and independent research.

In general, this is a good initiative on the part of the Verkhovna Rada. Although the implementation and monitoring of compliance with such norms will be a difficult task 🥵 Careful work of both teachers and students is required.
