OpenAI has introduced an enhanced voice feature for ChatGPT, available to Premium subscribers. The new version offers voice diversity and improved interaction, but is limited to certain regions for now.

New artificial intelligence capabilities
OpenAI has taken a significant step forward by introducing a full voice version of its popular chatbot ChatGPT. This innovation, however, is only available in a limited format for now.
Features and Availability
ChatGPT's advanced voice mode is a reality, but not all users can appreciate it just yet. The feature is only available to Plus, Team, or Enterprise premium subscribers, which start at $20 per month. In addition, the service does not yet geographically cover the countries of the European Union.
Functionality and Limitations
The updated version offers users a choice of nine different voices and features improved responsiveness. For example, if a user interrupts a bot's response, the bot will instantly fall silent to listen to the other person. However, according to CNBC, with prolonged use there may be some slowdown in the system's response speed.
Instructions for use
- Update the ChatGPT application to the latest version
- Launch the application and confirm the update
- In the new chat, find the sound wave icon next to the input field
- Activate the function and make sure that the sound on the device is turned on
- Wait for the characteristic sound and animation to appear
- Start a dialogue with ChatGPT voice
In the application settings, you can select your preferred voice and language, including different accents.
Development history and prospects
OpenAI first announced the introduction of voice functions in ChatGPT back in May. However, the process was suspended due to legal problems related to the similarity of one of the voices with the voice of famous actress Scarlett Johansson.
The field of AI voice assistants is undergoing active development. So, Google is preparing to introduce a similar function for its Gemini AI. Meta, in turn, announced the possibility of communicating with artificial intelligence in the voices of celebrities in its popular social networks and instant messengers.

Wow, ChatGPT now has voice! 🤖🗣️ I wonder how much this will change our interaction with AI. Has anyone tried it yet?
Hans
Yes, I already tried it! Impressive, especially the choice of voices. But for now only in English. Olga, you're right, this could have a big impact on how we communicate with AI. Imagine, you could just talk to him like a person! 😃
Marie
Hans, what about privacy? 🤔 Aren't you afraid that ChatGPT will always listen? I'm a little worried about data security.
Giovanni
Marie, I understand your concerns. But, as far as I know, recording starts only after activation. Plus, this is OpenAI - their reputation is on the line. In general, I am delighted with the idea of talking to AI! 🚀 Maybe soon we will be able to communicate with virtual interlocutors in different languages without barriers.
Viktor
Pfft, another useless toy. Why talk to a machine when there are real people? All these technologies only distance us from each other. It would be better to read a book or go to the park.
Sofia
Viktor, don't be such a grump! 😄 Technologies do not replace live communication, but complement it. Imagine how this could help people with disabilities or language learning. Giovanni is right, this opens up new horizons! 🌍
Pierre
Sofia, I completely agree! And imagine how this can help in business or education. Voice ChatGPT can be a great tool for presentations or interactive lectures. True, the subscription price is steep... 💸
Olga
Pierre, yes, the price is high. But maybe over time more affordable options will appear? In any case, technology does not stand still. I wonder what awaits us next? Maybe we'll soon be able to communicate with virtual doubles of celebrities, as Meta promises? 🤩
