"Azov" fighter Oleksandr Laptiy: From the front to the main role in S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2
"Azov" fighter Oleksandr Laptiy, a famous actor, participated in the creation of a new part of the popular game S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2, combining his acting experience with military service during a full-scale invasion.
An actor at war
From cinema to virtual reality
A soldier of the 12th Azov Special Forces Brigade, Oleksandr Laptiy, known by the nickname "Sei", has become one of the key characters in the long-awaited continuation of the cult game S.T.A.L.K.E.R., which is scheduled for release in September. A short interview with the fighter appeared on the "Azov" YouTube channel, where he talks about his experience working on the project.
Acting experience in real life
In peacetime, Oleksandr Laptiy worked as a theater and film actor, taking part in the creation of such films as "Zakhar Berkut", "Rules of Battle", "Cherkasy", as well as in various Ukrainian TV series.
From proposal to implementation
Laptiy said that he received an offer to animate one of the game's characters from the casting director via messenger even before the start of the full-scale invasion. The filming process was not easy, some scenes had to be reshot more than 20 times due to technical problems and other factors.
"I was turned into a 3D model, which turned out to be quite an interesting process. It's quite different from the traditional cinematographic process, where everything starts with a calibration. You have to do a kind of motion capture ritual," Oleksandr Laptiy shared. "Then a full-scale war broke out, everything was delayed, but I managed to shoot for three or four days."
From actor to defender
When the full-scale war began, the actor was in Chernihiv. He applied for a basic combat training course and joined the "Azov" brigade. According to him, the choice fell on this unit because of its uniqueness, outstanding commanders, fighters and high level of training.
"At the end of November, a message was received with an offer to take part in the voiceover. I replied that I could, but it depends on the decision of my commanders. The same evening "Redis" (Denis Prokopenko) agreed, and I went to Kyiv for the first three-day session," recalls Laptiy. "A few days before the voiceover, they send you the part of the script that you are involved in, so that you do not have a complete idea of the whole game. At first, I thought that I would not be interested in acting knowing the script. But it turned out that I did not know it completely. "

Wow, this is amazing! 😮 Oleksandr Laptiy is a real hero, both in life and in the game. I wonder how his experience in Azov will affect the game?
Franz
I agree, Olena! I think his military experience will add realism to the game. I wonder if S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 elements related to modern warfare?
Maria
Franz, it is very likely. GSC Game World has always tried to reflect Ukrainian realities. And it amazes me how they were able to continue development during the war! 💪
Giovanni
Yes, Maria! This shows the strength of spirit of Ukrainians. By the way, does anyone know what other actors will be involved in the game? It would be cool to see another famous Ukrainian!
Viktor
Oh, those games again... 🙄 People would rather read books or go for a walk in nature. It's all a waste of time.
Sophia
Viktor, I do not agree! Games are also art and a way to tell a story. And S.T.A.L.K.E.R. also tells the world about our culture. In addition, this is support for the Ukrainian economy! 🇺🇦
Janek
Sophia is right! In addition, this game can draw attention to the situation in Ukraine. As for the actors, I heard that there will be more surprises. Maybe even one of the international stars! 🌟
Olena
Wow, Janek, that would be cool! 😃 And I'm still thinking about how cool it is that Ukrainian developers are creating such a large-scale project. This is our answer to the world's gamedev giants!
