A month before the Made by Google event, information about the upcoming Pixel 9 series smartphones leaked to the network. TikTok user pixo_unpacking posted a video with pre-production samples of the Pixel 9 and Pixel 9 Pro XL, confirming earlier rumors.
Design changes
The new Pixel 9 and 9 Pro XL models differ from their predecessors in a redesigned camera. Instead of the usual visor, an oval body protruding from the rear panel of the device is now used. The Pixel 9 Pro XL is noticeably larger than the base version and is similar in size to the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra. The older model is equipped with a triple camera, while the basic version has a dual one.
Appearance features
Pixel 9 Pro XL will apparently have glossy sides and a matte black back panel. The Pixel 9 has the opposite situation. In addition to visual changes, the new line is expected to receive Google AI capabilities that allow searching using screenshots.
Technological improvements
Unconfirmed reports suggest that Google is planning to replace the under-display fingerprint scanner with a more advanced ultrasonic sensor. This may solve the problems that users have been facing while unlocking their devices. There are also rumors of a new pink color variant coming.

Google is expected to unveil the new Pixel 9 lineup at a special event on August 13, which is earlier than usual term. It is expected that prices for new smartphones in Europe will exceed the 2,000 euro mark, which is higher than the cost of previous models.
