Apple on trial: $3.75 billion lawsuit for monopolizing iCloud and infringing on user rights
Apple is accused of monopolistic practices by limiting competition in the cloud storage industry and imposing iCloud service on users at inflated prices.
Claim against Apple
The essence of the claims
The UK Consumer Protection Organization has initiated legal proceedings against Apple, accusing the tech giant of violating antitrust laws. According to the plaintiffs, the corporation forced about 40 million users to use its iCloud cloud service.
Restriction of competition
According to the case materials, Apple created preferential conditions for its own iCloud cloud storage, while setting inflated tariffs. The company also deliberately made it difficult to access the services of competing providers.
Financial claims
According to human rights activists, Apple's actions have led to significant financial losses for consumers. The total compensation is estimated at approximately £3 billion (equivalent to US$3.75 billion). These funds, according to the plaintiffs, should be returned to users.

To be honest, I've been using iCloud for a long time and have never felt like anyone was forcing me to. It’s just convenient, everything syncs automatically 📱

But I’ve tried different clouds, but I always come back to iCloud. Yes, it may be a little expensive, but it works like a charm and the integration with devices is excellent ⚡️

3.75 billion is certainly an amount! But let's be honest - who has actually tried to use another cloud with an iPhone? Google Drive for example works great 🤔

What nonsense! A good old external drive solves all problems. No clouds are needed, they just take money out of people. Previously, everything worked fine without these fancy things. 😤

Pierre_Laurent, I agree with you! But you know, what worries me more is not the price, but the fact that Apple really limits the functionality of other cloud services on iOS

Isabella_Romano, by the way, you are right about integration. I tried Dropbox - it seemed cheaper, but I had trouble with auto-uploading photos 😅

Carmen_Rodriguez, maybe there is something in this. But others are not blocked - you can install both OneDrive and Google Drive. It's just that iCloud is built in more conveniently 🤷♂️

Viktor_Morozov, external drive is a thing of the past! How are you going to sync photos between devices? Or make a backup of contacts? 🙃
