Cooperation with ICEYE
The Defense Department of Ukraine concluded a memorandum of cooperation with the Finnish company ICEYE, which is a leading player in the field of satellite technologies. According to official information of the ministry, this partnership is focused on remote sensing of the Earth, which will significantly strengthen the defense capability of our state.
ICEYE is known for its microsatellites and owns one of the world's largest networks of radar satellites. These spacecraft are able to provide accurate data about the surface of the planet in almost real time, providing access to information regardless of the time of day and weather conditions.
Advantages for Ukraine
Kateryna Chernogorenko, Deputy Minister of Defense, emphasized the significant improvement of intelligence capabilities thanks to this memorandum. This is especially important given that the aggressor actively uses satellite images from various sources, including commercial ones, to plan attacks.
Threats and Challenges
According to The Atlantic, in 2022, more than 350 cases were recorded when ordering satellite images of certain locations in Ukraine preceded missile strikes on these places. Although leading providers of satellite images such as Maxar and Planet officially deny cooperation with the aggressor, analysis by HUMINT specialists Molfar indicates the possibility of accessing these images through intermediaries and resellers.
Statistics and facts
Of the 321 analyzed cases, 277 confirmed the ordering of satellite images a few days before the shelling of the very places that were later attacked. Most often, orders came a week before the attack, although in some cases it happened 2-3 days before the attack.
It is important to note that during the two years of using the ICEYE satellite, acquired thanks to the joint efforts of Ukrainians, specialists of the Main Directorate of Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine received 4173 images of enemy objects, which significantly strengthened the defense capability our country

We finally have access to satellite technology! This will significantly strengthen our defense capability. 🚀 Wondering how quickly we can integrate this data into our systems?
Maria
Yes, Oleksandr, this is really great news! But I am concerned that the Russians also have access to satellite images. How can we protect ourselves from this?
Johann
Maria, I think having our own satellite data will help us mask important objects better. Maybe we can create fake targets to confuse the enemy? 🤔
Sophie
Interesting idea, Johann! And it would also be possible to use this data to quickly identify and destroy enemy equipment. Imagine how this could change the course of hostilities! 💪

Eh, these fashionable things again... Satellites, intelligence... Or maybe it's better to just dig in well and wait until the enemy wears himself out? Why these difficulties?
Oleksandr
Grzegorz, I understand your skepticism, but times are changing. Modern warfare requires modern solutions. This satellite data can save many lives by providing early warning of threats.
Isabella
I agree with Oleksandr! By the way, I read that these satellites can work even in bad weather. It's just incredible! Can you imagine how many possibilities this opens up for our intelligence? 😮
Maria
Isabella, you are right! And one more important point - this will help us better protect the civilian population. With accurate information, we will be able to evacuate people from dangerous areas faster. It can really save a lot of lives! ❤️
