The Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine appealed to Apple and Google companies with a demand to remove programs of unlicensed online casinos from their application stores in Ukraine - App Store and Play Market, respectively. People's deputy Yaroslav Zaliznyak announced this, publishing the official response of the Ministry of Digital Affairs to his request regarding the implementation of the decision of the National Security and Defense Council (NSDCU) on countering the negative consequences of online gambling.
List of casinos to block
The letter states that the Digital Ministry has already sent Apple and Google a list of gambling programs provided by the Gambling and Lotteries Regulatory Commission (CRIL), which must be checked and blocked in the absence of the appropriate license. Negotiations are currently underway with tech giants to remove such illegal apps.
Presidential decree against online casinos
This decision of the Ministry of Statistics is a consequence of the decree of the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi of April 20, 2024, which implements the decision of the National Security Service of Ukraine on combating the negative consequences of gambling on the Internet. The decree includes a number of measures, including restrictions on the advertising of online gambling businesses, blocking of illegal websites and banning the military from accessing online games.
