Does Midjourney predict the future? AI paints Trump as the next US president
Midjourney's artificial intelligence exhibits unexpected behavior when creating images of US political figures, despite its stated limitations. This is a concern in the context of upcoming elections and the fight against disinformation.
AI and Politics
Unexpected Midjourney Behavior
AI image generator Midjourney surprised users by creating portraits of Donald Trump and Joe Biden, defying previously stated restrictions related to the upcoming US presidential election. Moreover, the system seems to have its own “opinion” about the results of future voting.
When searching for "President of the United States," Midjourney created four different portraits of former President Trump. A similar result was obtained when searching for “the next US President.” Interestingly, when asked to depict the “current US President,” the system drew Trump three times and Obama once.
Official restrictions and reality
Despite this, Midjourney refuses to create images of Trump or Biden when directly requested. The service refers to the community's decision to prohibit such requests during the election campaign. Other well-known AI assistants such as ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot, Google Gemini and Meta AI also reject such indirect requests.
Midjourney Management Position
Midjourney CEO David Holtz previously urged users to refrain from creating images of politicians during elections, despite the "fun" nature of the process. He also noted the difficulty of moderating such requests.
Security and manipulation issues
The Center for Countering Digital Hate (CCDH) found that Midjourney's defense against creating misleading images of politicians failed 40% of tests. CCDH was able to get around the restrictions by using physical descriptions of candidates instead of their names. CCDH CEO Imran Ahmed stressed that Midjourney is too easily manipulated.
Tech Company Initiatives
At the beginning of the year, 20 leading technology companies, including OpenAI, Google, Meta and Amazon, signed an agreement on preventing the creation of deepfakes during the 2024 elections. However, Midjourney has not joined this initiative, raising further questions about its policies regarding the generation of election-related content.

Wow! Looks like AI is already predicting election results 😅 I wonder how accurate these predictions are?
Amelie
Lorenzo, I wouldn't rely on AI for such serious issues. This could simply be a bug in the algorithm or the result of bias in the data on which the system was trained 🤔
Hans
I agree with Amelie. We must not forget that AI is just a tool that can make mistakes. What's more interesting is that Midjourney breaks its own rules. This raises questions about the ethics and reliability of AI services 🧐

Guys, don’t you think that this could be a deliberate provocation on the part of the developers? Maybe they want to draw attention to the problem of the influence of AI on public opinion? 🤫
Olaf
Oh, these newfangled things! Previously, people thought for themselves with their own heads, but now they expect some machine to solve everything for them. There's no point in trusting these computers, they're just messing with people's brains!
Sophia
Olaf, I understand your concern, but technology is part of our lives. It is important to learn to evaluate them critically and use them wisely. By the way, I wonder how other AI services cope with similar requests? 🤓
Pierre
Sophia, great question! I've heard that ChatGPT and Gemini refuse such requests. Maybe Midjourney should learn from them? 😉 In general, this shows how important it is to develop digital literacy among users.

Guys, did you notice that CCDH were able to circumvent the Midjourney bans? This is really worrying! So anyone can create fake images of politicians? We urgently need to do something about this! 😱
