Window of opportunity: Microsoft opens Windows 10 beta test for new features
Microsoft is opening the possibility of testing new functionality for the aging Windows 10 operating system, despite support for the current version of Windows 11.
Testing Windows 10
Connecting to the beta program
Software giant Microsoft made the non-trivial decision to launch a beta program for the obsolete Windows 10 operating system. This step will allow the corporation to test new options and improvements for this platform, despite the upcoming discontinuation its support on October 14, 2025 and encourage users to upgrade to the latest version of Windows 11.
New features for Windows 10
The Windows 10 operating system has already received the Copilot AI assistant feature, which was previously exclusive to Windows 11. According to the Microsoft Windows Insider team, in order to introduce new options and improvements in Windows 10, space is needed for active development of functionality with using the Windows Insider program. So Microsoft decided to open a beta channel to Insiders who are currently using Windows 10.
Microsoft Plans
Microsoft is not disclosing what additional features it plans to test for Windows 10 in the future. However, members of the Windows Insider program will be able to join the beta channel and gain access to them before anyone else. It is important to note that the Windows 10 end of support date of October 14, 2025 remains unchanged.
Changing approach
Earlier last year, Microsoft announced that it was done with major updates for Windows 10. However, the company has since changed its approach to add more number of functions in this operating system. The change is described as a way to ensure that every user gets the most out of their current Windows PC.

My sister works at Microsoft, and she says the company is very interested in getting users to upgrade to Windows 11. But some people simply don't want to upgrade due to application compatibility issues or older hardware. 🤷♀️

I'm glad Microsoft is opening a beta program for Windows 10. This will give us the opportunity to test new features like AI Copilot without changing the operating system. I hope they add support for more modern GPUs. 👍

I don’t like updating to new OS versions right away; I’m waiting for at least the first major update. But if Microsoft keeps adding new features to Windows 10, it might convince me to stay on it for a while longer. 💻

I think supporting Windows 10 until 2025 is a good move on Microsoft's part. Many companies and organizations are still running on this OS and need time to transition. New features in Windows 10 will help smooth this process. 🤝

I don't understand why Microsoft is wasting resources updating Windows 10 if they want everyone to upgrade to Windows 11? This will only create confusion among users. 🙄 It would be better to focus on improving the new OS.

Eh, computer stuff again! 😒 In my time, people didn’t sit behind these boxes all day. We had fun in the fresh air and communicated face to face. All these updates and features are just marketing hype to make money. But there is no benefit!

Yuri, I understand your nostalgia for the old days. 😊 But it cannot be denied that technology makes our lives much easier. For example, I work remotely thanks to a computer and the Internet. Being able to get new features in Windows 10 is great!
