Laptop revolution: AI-accelerated Microsoft Copilot PC
Microsoft has introduced a new brand of Copilot+ PC - laptops with integrated AI chips and AI features in Windows 11, including the Copilot assistant and "Recall" mode for creating a "photographic memory" with searching information on the device.
PC AI capabilities
Built-in AI in laptops
Microsoft makes major breakthroughs in implementation of artificial intelligence technologies in laptop computers. The company announced a new line of laptops under the Copilot+ PC brand, equipped with specialized hardware components for processing tasks using AI and support for advanced AI features in the Windows 11 operating system.
Artificial intelligence capabilities on these devices will be realized thanks to the presence of a neural processor. One of the key functions provided by the neuroprocessor will be “Recall”. This technology uses artificial intelligence to create a kind of “photographic memory” that allows you to search through all the information that the user has worked with and that he viewed on his PC. Copilot+ PC laptops will work together with more than 40 artificial intelligence models integrated into the Windows 11 operating system to provide these new functionality. In addition, Microsoft's AI-powered assistant Copilot, built into Windows 11, will support the GPT-4 model.
Performance and battery life
According to Microsoft's executive vice president for Windows, Yusuf Mehdi, the new Copilot+ PC laptops will have 58% faster performance compared to MacBook Air with an M3 processor and their battery life will last all day. Microsoft expects 50 million laptops under the Copilot+ PC brand to be sold over the next year.
Hardware requirements
Copilot+ PC laptops have specific hardware configuration requirements. They must be equipped with a neural processing unit (NPU), have at least 16 GB of RAM and a solid state drive (SSD) with a capacity of at least 256 GB. Models based on Qualcomm's Arm processors should provide up to 15 hours of battery life when surfing the web.
Manufacturers and chips
Copilot+ PC-enabled laptops will be offered by Microsoft itself as part of Surface line, as well as key partners such as Dell, Lenovo, Samsung, HP, Acer and Asus. Despite the significant focus on bringing Arm processors to Windows laptops, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella said that AI features will also be available on laptops with Intel and AMD processors.
A New Era of Windows Laptops
Microsoft sees Copilot+ PCs as the beginning of a new era of Windows laptop computing. Switching to Arm processors can significantly improve the battery life of laptops. And new artificial intelligence features are designed to efficiently use processor hardware resources. These are two ambitious steps into unproven hardware and software solutions. If they prove successful, they could be truly revolutionary changes for Windows laptops.

Guys, have you thought about the impact on jobs? 💼 If AI can perform many tasks, will people lose their jobs?

These are unnecessary concerns, in my opinion. 😒 AI will help people, not replace them. We will still remain in demand, our tasks will just become more effective and interesting.

Well, I'm skeptical about all this. 😒 Why do we need these stupid trends and innovations? My old laptop works great and I don't see the need for such "improvements". 💻
