Consortium NJJ has acquired Ukrainian telecom operator Datagrup-Volia and plans to merge it with mobile operator Lifecell, pending a regulatory decision to complete the merger.

Investment company NJJ Holding, founded and fully subordinated to Xavier Niel, announced about its intention to combine the activities of the telecommunications provider Datagrup-Volia and the mobile operator Lifecell. The final decision depends on regulatory approval, but the company has already received approval to acquire Datagrup-Volia in March 2024.
Datagrup-Volia owners
96.13% of Volia shares belong to the American-Ukrainian investment Horizon Capital under the leadership of Olena Kosharnaya. The remaining 3.87% is owned by the CEO of Datagrup-Volia Mykhailo Shelemba. Earlier, ELBUZ reported on the attraction of $350 million by the Horizon Capital fund and investments in three Ukrainian companies.
Post-Merger Plans
After combining the companies, NJJ plans to launch a large-scale investment program in Ukraine, aimed at the development of the network, licenses, equipment and infrastructure expansion. Horizon Capital and Mykhailo Shelemba will also invest in the Datagrup-Volia-Lifecell platform, keeping a minority stake and becoming a local partner of Xavier Niel and NJJ in Ukraine.
Management of the combined company
Mykhailo Shelemba, the current CEO of Datagroup, will lead the combined platform, and Pierre Danon, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Datagroup- Volia, will continue to hold this position in the combined structure.

The merger of the companies will allow consumers to take advantage of the offer of a triple package of services, which will include mobile, fixed communication and pay TV. A higher quality of service and better price conditions are promised.
