Intense competition in the labor market: candidates without experience are not left behind
Statistics from Ginny's recruiting service highlight an increase in the number of vacancies for job seekers with no experience, while competition among entry-level candidates has decreased, making it almost the same situation for the most experienced professionals.
Market trends
Demand for newcomers
Recently, there has been a tendency towards a decrease in the number of applicants without work experience while simultaneously increasing number of vacancies available to them. Competition for one online vacancy for this category of candidates has decreased from 28 people at the beginning of the year to 16 currently.
In-demand areas
The most competitive areas for beginners are React.js, Java and .Net. JavaScript, despite its popularity, occupies only fourth position. It is worth noting that competition among manual QA without experience is currently two times lower than among front-end developers.
The situation for experts
At the same time, for the most experienced specialists the situation is less favorable, especially for testers. On online platforms, for every one and a half thousand candidates, there are only about one and a half dozen available vacancies.
More detailed information about competition in various categories can be found here.
Please note that these statistics only counted candidates who were actively looking for a job and visited the site within the last 30 days.
Additionally it is recommended that you familiarize yourself with the statistics for the first quarter of 2024, which present the following optimistic indicators:
- 7.5 thousand online vacancies - the largest number since July 2023;
- 21.2 job responses in March - the lowest number in the last 9 months;
- Increase in the number of vacancies for candidates without experience by 20%.

I was surprised that JavaScript was only in fourth place in terms of competition among juniors. 🤔 This is one of the most popular programming languages! Perhaps many people start with other technologies?

Interestingly, the competition among junior testers is two times lower than among front-end developers. 🧐 Maybe we should take a closer look at this direction? It seems promising and less competitive at the start.

Hmm, here’s another portion of numbers and statistics... 🙄 This data, of course, is useful, but you shouldn’t believe it blindly. The labor market situation is constantly changing, and what is relevant today may be outdated tomorrow. Therefore, the main thing is not to lose vigilance and follow your own path, despite trends and numbers.
