Cashback on a separate card: the new "Made in Ukraine" initiative and GDP growth
Cashback on an individual card and +1% GDP. We learned the details of the new "Made in Ukraine" initiative.
The Ukrainian authorities have launched a major communication campaign "Made in Ukraine", which, according to the plan, can bring an increase of up to 1% of GDP. ELBUZ has revealed new details about what this new economic platform might look like.
Increase the demand for Ukrainian
In Ukraine, launch a new campaign to support the national producer. First, on February 23 , the CMU approved the appearance of a trademark for Ukrainian goods. The Ministry of Economy developed the "Made in Ukraine" logo. According to officials, this step will help distinguish our products from competitors and stimulate demand for them.
And on February 26, the president announced the launch of the corresponding economic platform during the event. After that, Penny Pritzker, the special representative of the US president, stated: "The Biden administration has committed to allocate 230 million dollars to support the Ukrainian private sector in order to preserve jobs, increase domestic and foreign demand and stimulation of tax revenues". Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal announced that UAH 45 billion has been earmarked for business support programs this year.
At that time, Economy Minister Yuliya Svyridenko announced that the electronic version of the platform "Made in Ukraine" would be operational next week. However, as of March 15, except pulse.gov.ua , there were no other websites, except for the form of appeals from business representatives to the state.

"In the near future, it is planned to launch a site on which manufacturers will have the opportunity to become part of "Made in Ukraine", and consumers - to find information about the impact of their purchases on the country's economy." , - said Mrs. Nadiya Bihun, Deputy Minister of Economy of Ukraine. - There will also be additional bonuses for creating content for ambassadors among both producers and consumers."
During his speech at the same forum, the head of the Office of the President Andriy Yermak noted: "We have already agreed, and this was one of our first meetings, that in each oblast we will have a profile deputy who will deal with the "Made in Ukraine" platform and entrepreneurship." At the end of the day, business associations and the government of Ukraine signed a joint statement.
The words of the head of the President's Office were picked up by officials in the regions. For example, the head of the Lviv OVA Maksym Kozytskyi was caught: "In real conditions, when all the hryvnias in the budget can turn into a projectile or drones, which our defenders need, our obligation is to provide maximum assistance to the Ukrainian economy, our producer. I call on the residents of Lviv region to support the Ukrainian economy, the Ukrainian producer. When choosing goods on store shelves, look for the mark "Made in Ukraine" or "Made in Ukraine" on them. Let's support our own! emphasis on military goods
Future plans from communities
Regarding the new program, the government has many plans: cashback for buyers of Ukrainian goods, activation of the program for the purchase of domestically produced school buses, compensation for producers, preferential credit programs, grants, the "e-Robot" initiative, stimulation of consumer demand, etc.
"We expect an increase in GDP by 1%," Nadiya Bigun notes. "Of course, if the entire set of planned measures work. However, our main goal is to show that the economy does not function by itself. We are all its components. If we make the Ukrainian choice at the level of the first step - regardless of whether you are buying cheese or placing a large order for your company - each of us will win."
This is not the first attempt to popularize Ukrainian at the state level after a full-scale conflict. Thus, on September 21, 2022, Ukraine launched an official marketplace "Made with courage", which worked until December of the following year .
The concept of "Buy Ukrainian" is constantly coming to the Ukrainian market. Previously, such initiatives were mainly associated with the interest of certain groups of entrepreneurs in exclusive advantages. Mykola Malukha, communications director of the analytical center CASE Ukraine, shares with his thoughts:
"Today, most likely, the ideas for reviving this initiative are different, since there are no real changes for business activity: lack of rule of law, presumption of the taxpayer's guilt before the tax and customs, institutional failure to effectively combat smuggling and other tax evasion schemes. Therefore, steps are necessary to demonstrate the activity of the political leadership, but the necessary steps should be aimed at improving business activity in the country."
The initiative regarding the platform appeared after the detention of businessman Igor Mazepa, provoked the government's response to the creation of the Business Support Council during the war, including Artem Borodatyuk (Netpeak Group), Oleg Horohovsky (Universal Bank), Kostyantyn Yefimenko (Biopharma), Taras Kitsmey (SoftServe), Vyacheslav Klimov ("Nova Poshta"), Oleksandr Konotopskyi (Ajax Systems) and Dmytro Oliinyk (Council of the Federation of Employers of Ukraine).
The Council has already held meetings with the head of the OP Andriy Ermak, as well as President Volodymyr Zelenskyi. During the meeting, they discussed the creation of a platform for receiving feedback from businesses (perhaps we are talking about "Pulse") and an analytical module for the Unified Register of Pretrial Investigations, which will allow to see the full picture of criminal proceedings in the country in real time.
Mykola Malukha adds that councils, working groups under the ministries are being created, economic development strategies are being written and reform plans are being developed, but there are more and more questions from business.
AIN.UA will monitor the results of the "Made in Ukraine" campaign implementation.
