Like in the Star Wars movies: Indian startup extracts water from thin air
Hailing from arid regions, Indian entrepreneurs have developed an innovative technology for producing drinking water from humid air, inspired by vaporizers from the Star Wars universe. An efficient system can generate up to 2000 liters of clean water per operating cycle.
Water Generators
Star Wars Inspired Solution
Swapnil Srivastava of startup Uravu Labs is no stranger to water shortages. by hearsay. In 2016, residents of Kolkata received only a couple of buckets of drinking water per day. The search for an effective way to extract moisture from the surrounding air led to the idea of recreating vaporizers from the iconic Star Wars franchise. These moisture collectors saved the inhabitants of arid planets like Tatooine from dehydration.
Solar and green technology
The developed system extracts moisture from the atmosphere using a liquid desiccant. Solar energy or renewable sources heat the absorbed moisture to 65°C, releasing it as condensate. The water collected in this way is filtered, becoming completely drinkable. Each unit is capable of producing approximately 2,000 liters of clean water in one 12-hour operating cycle.
Water generator for enterprises
Uravu Labs currently supplies drinking water to about 40 establishments HoReCa segment, allowing them to fully meet customer needs. However, the developers do not stop there and continue to improve the technology. In particular, the search is underway for more efficient dehumidifiers that can operate at lower temperatures.
Use in facilities with excess heat
One of the startup’s promising projects is the use of water generators in facilities with high heat generation, for example, data centers. Data centers produce large amounts of excess heat, which is simply dissipated. By extracting moisture from the air, it can reduce the drinking water consumption of data centers themselves by up to 95%.

Wow! They pull water right out of thin air! 🤯 It's like from Star Wars! But this real technology is already being used in India. It's interesting to see how it works.

Yeah, who would have thought that such technology was inspired by a science fiction movie! 🤖 But the solution is truly innovative and very relevant for arid regions.

Amazing! 2000 liters of drinking water per day from one installation is a lot. 💧 In some countries this is a huge problem, such an invention is simply necessary.

Phew, just imagine what kind of crap they drink - condensation from the air full of exhaust gases and all kinds of dust! 🤢 No, I’d rather drink clean spring water.

Grumpy, you're grumbling as always! 🙄 I’m sure this water goes through multi-stage purification. Can you imagine the progress - you no longer need to waste resources on transporting water to desert areas!
Анджела
I agree, Sofia! 👍 And the technology is very environmentally friendly, it runs on solar energy. That's the whole point - clean water from the air without harming the environment!

I can’t help but note the commercial potential! 💰 The atmospheric water production market is already estimated at billions of dollars. Great business idea for investors!

Yes, the prospects are impressive. In my opinion, it is important not only to develop technology, but also to take care of the availability of such water for the poor. 🙏 So that it does not become a luxury for the chosen few.
