New Intel Core Ultra 200V (Lunar Lake) processors: what is known about the powerful new generation chips
New high-performance Intel Core Ultra 200V (Lunar Lake) chips with improved cores and integrated AI promise to become a powerful platform for mobile devices with Lion Cove, Skymont, Xe2-LPG architecture and support for up to 48 TOPS.
New chips
Mobile line of processors
According to information leaks, Intel is preparing a line of 9 Core Ultra 200V processors ( Lunar Lake), including the flagship Core Ultra 9 288V. These new chips will be a major release for Intel, offering several new architectures and capabilities.
Neural Compute Core
One of the key features of Lunar Lake will be an NPU unit capable of providing up to 48 TOPS performance in artificial intelligence tasks. This will significantly expand the capabilities of devices in the field of machine learning and AI applications.
New CPU and GPU architectures
Lunar Lake processors will use completely new CPU architectures and GPU. The productive Lion Cove cores and energy-efficient Skymont cores will provide a 4+4 core configuration optimized for mobile devices. Xe2-LPG GPUs will represent the first implementation of the promising next-generation Battlemage architecture.
Specs and Features
The flagship Core Ultra 9 288V will have a TDP of 30W (PL1 and PL2) and an expected maximum clock speed of 5.1 GHz for P- cores and 3.7 GHz for E-cores. NPU performance will range from 40 to 48 TOPS, and GPU performance will range from 53 to 67 TOPS, depending on the model. The chips will be equipped with integrated LPDDR5-8533 memory of 32 or 16 GB.
Integrated Graphics
Intel will also simplify the naming scheme of its integrated graphics. Core Ultra 9 and Ultra 7 will feature Arc A140V graphics with 8 Xe2 cores, while Core Ultra 5 will feature Arc A130V graphics with 7 Xe2 cores. The frequency of the graphics cores will reach 2.05 GHz.

Yes, I'm also excited about the new AI capabilities in these processors. But I'm more interested in the performance of the new Xe2 GPUs. Maybe Intel will finally be able to compete with NVIDIA? 🎮

Don't forget about energy efficiency! The new hybrid architecture with Lion Cove and Skymont cores sounds promising for mobile devices. I wonder how efficient they will be compared to ARM. 💻

It seems Intel has really ambitious plans. But I'm a little skeptical that they will be able to implement all their plans. Will one chip be able to combine such different architectures as CPU, GPU and NPU? 🤔 Time will tell.

I'm more concerned about the issue of overheating. With that much power in a small chip, they'll have to work hard on the cooling system. Although the declared frequencies sound impressive - up to 5.1 GHz! 🔥

Like an old cynic, I'm skeptical about all these new fashions. 😒 New technologies will probably appear in a couple of years and these processors will become obsolete. Why chase trends when you can buy a reliable, proven processor?

Thomas, I understand your skepticism, but progress cannot be stopped. 🚀 New technologies open up new opportunities that we never even dreamed of before. Let's see what the new generation of Intel processors will bring us!

Guys, has anyone noticed the integrated LPDDR5 memory? Up to 32 GB directly in the processor - this will be a huge plus for performance. It's a shame that it can't be upgraded, but it's still great! 💻💨
