Intel's new requirements for motherboard manufacturers: mandatory processor profile
Intel is asking system and motherboard manufacturers to implement a BIOS profile with recommended default settings for Raptor Lake processors by the end of May 2024 to address performance issues with some games.
Intel Recommendations
Profile Creation Requirement
Intel has once again quietly demanded that motherboard manufacturers comply with the recommended parameters for processors according to default. This time, the corporation asks to add a profile called “Intel Default Settings” to the BIOS options and set it to active by default.
Reason for requirement
Recently, an issue has become known with some games not running correctly on 13th and 14th generation Intel Raptor Lake-S processors with unlocked overclocking. According to Intel, this is caused by partners' failure to comply with the recommended specifications for the chips. The corporation sent the following message to manufacturers:
“Intel requests system and motherboard manufacturers to provide end users with a default BIOS profile that meets the recommended Intel settings. The recommended profile name is “Intel Default Settings”. Intel is asking customers to implement the Intel Default Settings profile as the default BIOS profile by May 31, 2024. "The company strongly recommends that the default BIOS settings ensure operation within Intel's recommended settings."
Specific Limits
Intel has also provided specific limits, specifically for the Intel Core i9-14900K processor.
Manufacturers' Actions
Motherboard manufacturers have actually already implemented the recommended settings or are in the process of implementing them implementation. In particular, they removed the actual unlimited power limit (4000 W), which some boards used and which was often cited as the reason for incorrect operation.

I wonder why Intel is so insistent on using the recommended default settings? 🤔 Perhaps they just want to preserve the reputation of their processors and avoid any performance issues.

In my opinion, this is the right step on Intel's part. Too many users are facing problems due to incorrect BIOS settings. 💻 A standard profile will help you avoid many mistakes and ensure stable operation.

And I believe that this limits the freedom of choice of users. 😕 Some people like to experiment with settings and achieve maximum performance. Intel should provide recommendations, but not impose them.

Yuri, I agree with you! 🙌 I love overclocking my computer and customizing it to suit my needs. But for most users, Intel's default settings may be a good solution. The main thing is to be able to change them.

I don't understand why everyone is so worried about this. 🙄 If you don't like the Intel settings, just change them in the BIOS. Why be so dramatic?

These new trends and requirements from Intel make me laugh. 😂 Why is all this needed? Previously everything worked fine without these settings. Just more stupidity from a corporation.

I think Intel is just trying to protect their processors from malfunctioning. 🤔 Many users complained about problems with games, and this could harm the company's reputation. Standard settings are a good way to solve this problem.

This is another example of how corporations are trying to control our devices. 😒 First they recommend, and then they will start introducing restrictions. I am against such interference in our systems.
