Google abandons endless scrolling in search results: new changes in the interface
Google abandons continuous scrolling in search results, replacing it with a classic navigation bar to improve the speed and efficiency of search queries.
Interface change
Endless scrolling removed
The search giant Google stops using the continuous scrolling feature (infinite scrolling) in your search results. A representative of the company said that such a change will happen in the near future: infinite scrolling will disappear from search on desktops immediately, and on mobile devices - in the coming months.
Return of classic navigation
Instead of continuous scrolling, the classic navigation bar will be returned, allowing users go to a specific page of search results or simply click "Next" to view the next page. On mobile devices, a "More results" button will appear at the end of the results to download additional data.
Improving search performance
Google explains that such a change will allow to provide more relevant results faster search for a larger number of requests. Avoiding automatic loading of unnecessary results will increase the efficiency of the search engine. In addition, studies have shown that automatic data loading has little effect on overall user satisfaction.
Interface change history
A social media news feed-style interface with infinite scrolling was first launched for mobile search in October 2021, and in late 2022 this interface was also transferred to search on computers.

I was a little saddened by the news of Google's abandonment of endless scrolling of search results 😔 This feature was actually convenient, because I didn't have to click the "Next" button every time.

I understand your feelings, Angela! But I think Google is right - infinite scrolling was actually not very effective 🤔 It's better to give users faster and more relevant search results.

Yes, this is a logical step by Google. Apparently research showed that people didn't use infinite scrolling as much as the developers thought 📉 Now at least the search speed should improve.

And I do not welcome these new trends at all! 😠 Endless scrolling was convenient, especially on a phone. Now you will have to click "More results" every time. Progress chiregres?

Don't be so upset, Piotr! 🙂 I think Google knows what they are doing. Maybe infinite scrolling wasn't as popular as it seemed. And the new navigation will actually improve the search experience!

In my opinion, it is a good idea to go back to the old navigation 💡 It is familiar and convenient for most users. And the endless scrolling sometimes even confused - it is not known how many more results will be loaded.

I wonder if this change will be reflected in the quality of Google search results? 🧐 Although, probably, it will have the biggest effect on the speed of loading pages with results.

Don't worry so much about endless scrolling! 😄 Probably, Google tested this function well and saw that it does not bring the desired effect. The main thing is that the search works quickly and gives relevant results, and the rest - small things.
