AI conference
Introduction of artificial intelligence
On May 14, the annual Google I/O development forum was held , where the company presented its innovations in the field of web technologies and services. This year's event lasted 110 minutes and was entirely focused on artificial intelligence. According to Google's own calculations, the phrase "AI" was heard 121 times during the keynote. CEO Sundar Pichai joked that the company did the "heavy lifting" of counting instead of the participants.
Focus on Gemini
A significant portion of the presentation was devoted to Gemini, Google's own large language model and its various variations. The company is implementing LLM across nearly all of its offerings, including Android, Gmail, and Search. Interestingly, the word "Gemini" was mentioned even more often than "AI" - 162 times (170 times including "Gem" and "Gems"). Essentially, Google was delivering about 1.5 Geminis per minute.
Word mention statistics
Android Authority decided to calculate some interesting statistics after Pichai's announcement about number of AI mentions:
- The word “Search” was mentioned 87 times (but also not without AI).
- The company name "Google" was heard 68 times.
- Android only received 21 mentions, which is unusual for a Google I/O keynote.
- The word "Developer" (at a developer conference!) was said 21 times.
- Google's favorite promise, "Coming Soon," was said 9 times.
- The uncertain periods "Soon" and "Later this year" were mentioned 5 times each.
- "Available today" or "Available now" - 5 times.
- The word "Launch" is mentioned 13 times in all variations, and "Available" is mentioned 18 times.

Yes, this is obvious from how often the words "AI" and "Gemini" were mentioned 😄 It looks like this will be their main strategy for the near future.

I agree, it seems like major changes are coming. 🚀 I'm concerned about how reliable and secure these new AI technologies will be. I hope Google will pay due attention to this.

I was surprised that Android was hardly mentioned at this conference 😳 After all, it was their main product for many years.

Bah, all these fancy AI things are just funny toys for techies 🙄 They are useless in real life. Google would be better off focusing on something that really matters.

Ivan, don't be such a skeptic! 😄 Artificial intelligence technologies open up many new opportunities. Of course, they need to be developed responsibly, but ignoring them would be a mistake.

I agree, these technologies have enormous potential for development! 🚀 Take at least assistant translators or smart information retrieval systems - this is already a reality thanks to AI.
