Google is removing 3D models of animals and objects: the end of the era of augmented reality?
Recently, Google has sharply reduced its library of 3D models of animals and other objects available for viewing in augmented reality through search.

Loss of diversity
Over the years, Google has amassed a vast collection of 3D models, including more than hundreds of different animals, dinosaurs, planets, anatomical structures and other objects. Users could view these models in the browser or on mobile devices, and use augmented reality to visualize life-size objects. However, the company recently unexpectedly removed the vast majority of such models from its search.
Limited selection
There are currently only about a dozen 3D animal models available on Google Search , with less than ten dogs and cats left. There are also a small number of insects and other objects present. Educational models of cells and body systems can still be found, but models of individual body parts have completely disappeared. Some of them are now displayed as "interactive diagrams" rather than 3D models.
Lack of explanation
Google has not provided any explanation as to why it removed so many useful and interesting 3D models from your search engine.

The news about Google's 3D models is very unpleasant. I was hoping to show my little son different animals and dinosaurs in augmented reality. 😕

Oh no, what a pity! 😔 The 3D models were so cool, especially the dinosaurs. Hopefully Google will bring them back in the future.

This sucks! 😡 I loved looking at rare animals and educational models in augmented reality. Why remove such a cool feature?
Джузеппе
Perhaps they did this due to copyright or licensing issues with some models? 🤔 In any case, it’s a pity that Google didn’t explain the reasons.

Bah, all these 3D models and augmented reality are a waste of time and resources! 👺 In my time, we were happy with regular book illustrations and did not require any entertainment.

I don’t agree, Stanislav! 🙅♀️ Augmented reality is an exciting technology that helps you learn and discover new things. It's a shame that Google removed a lot of useful models.

Maybe they had performance or file size issues for some models? 🤷♂️ Anyway, I miss the 3D dogs and cats, they were so much fun to watch!

Hopefully Google will listen to user feedback and bring back more 3D models. 🙏 These were so cool for educational purposes, especially the human body models.
