At the Made by Google 2024 presentation, the company revealed details of its updated Pixel 9 series of smartphones. The base model is equipped with a 6.3-inch OLED screen with FHD+ resolution (2424x1080 pixels) and a refresh rate of 120 Hz. Display brightness has increased by 35%, reaching 2700 nits. Instead of an optical fingerprint scanner, Google has implemented a more reliable ultrasonic solution.
Advanced Hardware
The heart of the Pixel 9 is the Tensor G4 processor, which includes the main Cortex-X4 core, three high-performance A720 cores and four energy-efficient A520 cores. The chipset is complemented by an improved Exynos 5400 modem, while the Mali-G715 graphics core remains the same, but with an increased frequency. A significant improvement is the increase in RAM to 12 GB, which is necessary for the AI functions on the device. Users have options with 128 and 256 GB of internal memory.
Advances in photographic capabilities
The Pixel 9 cameras have undergone significant changes. The main dual camera now includes a 50-megapixel main module and a 48-megapixel ultra-wide-angle module with macro support, which is significantly superior to the 12-megapixel module of the previous generation. The front 10.5 megapixel camera received the long-awaited autofocus.
Improved autonomy
Battery capacity has increased to 4700 mAh. According to Google, this lasts for 24 hours of normal use or up to 100 hours in Extreme Battery Saver mode. The fast charging function allows you to replenish 55% of the charge in half an hour.
Pricing and Availability
Pixel 9 prices start at $799 for the 128GB version. The smartphone is available in four colors: Porcelain, Winter Green, Peony and Obsidian. Pre-orders are open and deliveries will begin on August 22.
