Google has rolled out a new Performance Detection feature in Chrome to help users identify performance issues and manage resource-intensive tabs. The Memory Saver function has also been updated with new operating modes.

New Performance Detection
Google has introduced an innovative solution for its Chrome browser - the Performance Detection function. This new product is designed to help users detect performance problems, as well as identify tabs that consume the most RAM.
Now in the browser interface, next to the user's profile avatar, a small icon will be displayed , resembling a speedometer. When you interact with it, a list of tabs that intensively use system resources will open. The user will be asked to choose between the Reject or Fix Now options.
Memory Saver update
In addition, Google has improved the functionality of Memory Saver, adding new operating modes for resource-intensive tabs:
- "Moderate" - analyzes the situation and independently manages the tabs;
- "Balanced" - operates taking into account the capabilities of the system and user habits;
- "Maximum" - automatically deactivates unused tabs.
How to enable new features
To see the new settings, you need to open the Chrome menu ( three dots in the upper right corner), go to "Settings", then select the "Performance" section. There should be a new toggle for "Alert about performance problems." It is worth noting that this option may not become available immediately, but after some time after updating the browser.

Wow, Google is finally getting around to optimizing Chrome! 🎉 I'm already tired of the browser eating up all the RAM. I wonder how effective this feature will be?
Hans
Sounds promising! I often work with multiple tabs and this can really help. Although I wonder if this will not distract from work with constant notifications? 🤔
Amélie
Oh, this is what you need! I love keeping a bunch of tabs open, but my laptop is starting to slow down. I hope this feature will really help 🤞 Isabella, have you tried it yet?
Isabella
Amélie, not yet, but I can't wait! Hans, I agree about notifications. I hope there will be an option to configure the frequency of notifications. It would be great to see statistics on memory consumption 📊
Günter
Bah! Another useless feature. Instead of optimizing the browser itself, they add some kind of notifications. And even next to the profile photo - why is this even necessary? Some kind of nonsense.
Carlos
Günter, don't be such a pessimist! 😄 This is a great step towards improvement. I can't wait to see which tabs are really slowing down the system. This will help you organize your work better!
Olena
I agree with Carlos! 👍 This can really help, especially for those who are not very technical. A simple notification and the ability to quickly fix the problem - what could be better?
Hans
Good idea, Isabella! Statistics would be great. Olena is right, this will make optimization accessible to everyone. I wonder if there will be a feature to automatically close inactive tabs? 🤓
