GitHub Releases Copilot Workspace: An AI Assistant for Code Developers
Announced the innovative Copilot Workspace development environment from GitHub, giving developers the ability to use Copilot-powered AI agents to brainstorm, plan, create, test and work with natural language code.
Copilot Workspace
Evolution of Copilot AI
GitHub introduced Copilot Workspace as an evolution of its Copilot AI assistant , endowed with new features similar to the functionality of Copilot Chat. Powered by OpenAI GPT-4 Turbo, the framework can map out plans, fix bugs, or implement new features based on understanding comments in the repository, as well as provide answers and suggest a rich code base.
Integration and use
The proposed code can be run directly in Copilot Workspace and shared between team members via external links. To launch the environment, just click the new Open in Workspace button located to the left of the tasks. Workspace systematically takes requests step by step, creating a specification, generating a plan, and then implementing it.
Developers have the ability to drill down into any of these steps to get a detailed overview of the proposed code and changes made, and can also remove, restart or change the order of actions.
Preview Released
A preview version of Copilot Workspace, optimized for various devices, will be released next week.

Cool! The new features of Copilot Workspace sound very promising for developers. 🚀 Automation of routine tasks and increased productivity is what many of us have been waiting for.

Yes, but I worry about the impact of these tools on our work. We may become too dependent on Copilot and lose important programming skills. 🤔 What do you think about this?
Михаил
I agree with Inga's concerns. Although this is convenient, you should not rely entirely on AI. It is important to maintain balance and continue to develop your own skills. 💻

I don't think there's any need to worry. Copilot is a tool that helps us, not replaces us. We will still make decisions and control the process. 🧠

Have you seen that Microsoft added its Copilot to Windows 11? This is too much, in my opinion. 😒 I don’t want AI poking its nose everywhere.

These new technologies are just another trend that will soon pass. 👴 In my time, we wrote code by hand, and everything was great for us!
София
Nikolai, I understand your nostalgia, but the world is changing. 🌍 We need to keep up with the times and use new tools that can help us. The main thing is not to lose control and be critical of them.
Кароль
I completely agree! You need to be flexible and open to new technologies. 🙌 At the same time, it is important to remember that AI is just a tool, not a replacement for human intelligence and creativity.
