A user with 7,470 open Firefox tabs talks about her memory in the browser
The software developer has demonstrated the phenomenal practice of opening a massive number of tabs in the Firefox browser, turning it into a kind of digital repository of memories and research.
Patient Firefox
Multi-tab workflow
Twitter user hazel, who has been working in programming for over two years I've been keeping several thousand tabs open in the Firefox browser on my Mac for years. For her, this became a unique way of preserving a digital trace of her research, thoughts and activities. Scrolling through the array of tabs, it’s as if she’s taking a trip through her own memories, plunging into layers of material she’s studied and experiences she’s had.
Massive recovery
In a recent tweet, hazel showed off a screenshot of 7,470 open Firefox tabs. However, due to an issue, the browser was unable to restore all tabs. Luckily, by using Firefox's profile cache, she was able to get her entire huge array of tabs back, with the reboot process taking less than a minute. This event gave her a feeling of regaining part of her digital identity.
High performance
Despite the colossal number of open tabs, this fact has virtually no effect on computer performance. A Mozilla spokesperson confirmed that Firefox uses RAM efficiently and does not load web pages until the user selects the appropriate tab. hazel herself noted that Firefox is not resource-intensive, since the browser does not load sites in advance.

Hmm, it's very unusual to leave thousands of tabs open in the browser. I can't imagine how this is ordered and structured. 😅

For me, browser tabs are a repository of information and knowledge that I accumulate in the process of work or research. Each tab is a piece of the puzzle that helps me understand the bigger picture. 💡

I admire this girl! She has found her own way to organize and store information that is important to her. Although my approach is more minimalistic, I appreciate her commitment to preserving knowledge. 👍

I don't think leaving thousands of tabs open is a good idea. This can slow down your computer and create confusion. It's better to use bookmarks or a tab manager. 💻

Ha, I see that among us there are both skeptics and enthusiasts. Perhaps a middle ground should be found. A few hundred tabs are fine, but thousands may be excessive. The main thing is to organize them so that they are useful. 🤔

I like her approach! I also like to save tabs so I can come back to them later. It's like storing memories and ideas in one place. 💫 However, it may be worth checking them periodically and closing unnecessary ones.

By the way, did you know that Firefox copes well with a large number of tabs? Other browsers may be slower, but Firefox is optimized for this. 🦊

Ugh, this is crazy! 😠 Why keep thousands of tabs open? This only creates clutter and confusion. It's better to use bookmarks or tab managers to organize your information.
