Figma announces major UI3 redesign, new AI tools and Figma Slides
Figma is announcing a major redesign, introducing new AI tools, and introducing Figma Slides to showcase presentations.
Updated Figma
Modernized design
After ten years of development and adding new features, Figma faced the need to simplify and improve the workspace. The UI3 redesign is designed to solve four main problems: remove redundant interface, make the application more intuitive for beginners, adapt it to the changing nature of design, and unify the Figma family of tools.
New changes include:
- Moving toolbars to the bottom of the canvas, with the possibility of completely hiding the interface.
- Combining all layout parameters in one panel.
- Input backgrounds for data entry, boxes around lists, rounded corners and 200 custom-drawn icons.
- Updated design of the Auto Layout window.
- Integration of FigJam, Figma Design and Figma Slides to create a convenient ecosystem.
Powerful AI Tools
Figma is also introducing new AI tools designed to make it easier work of designers:
- Visual Search will allow to find and reuse designs by sample image or text prompt.
- Improved Assets panel with contextual understanding of search queries.
- Ability to translate or rewrite text in one click.
- Generate realistic images and remove the background to fill the design.
- Creating initial content based on text prompts.
Figma emphasizes that their AI tools work on third-party models and do not learn from user input. Admins will be able to control whether to train AI on user content.
Figma Slides
Figma also introduces Figma Slides, a tool for viewing and displaying presentations created in Figma. It is intended for both professionals and a wide range of users.

Figma's new capabilities sound exciting! 🤩 Going to the UI3 version to eliminate the redundant interface and focus on the design work seems like a great idea. It is interesting to look at the updated design with integrated AI tools. 🧠

I'm really excited about using AI for visual search and text translation in Figma. 👀 In my opinion, this will make the design work much more efficient. I wonder if AI will be powerful enough to generate realistic images?

I can't wait for the Figma Slides! 📽️ I will be able to demonstrate and present my designs simply in Figma. This is much more convenient than using third-party presentation software.

While I'm not the biggest fan of UI design changes, they are right about the need for streamlining. 🧐 After ten years of existence, Figma has accumulated too many unnecessary elements. Hopefully the UI3 update will make the app more intuitive for beginners.

Well, it looks like we're witnessing some big changes at Figma. 🚀 Updating the interface, adding AI tools and creating a special application for slides - all this makes the design process even more convenient and efficient. I wonder if these innovations will have an impact on the labor market of designers?

Um, who would have thought that Figma would go in the AI direction. 🤔 Although I am not against the introduction of new technologies, I am concerned that over-reliance on them can harm the creativity of designers. I would not like AI to completely replace human creativity.

I'm really excited to try Figma's AI image search! 🔍 As a designer, I often work with huge libraries of images, and visual search can make my work much faster. Although, of course, you cannot fully rely on AI.

I'm still skeptical of all these Figma innovations. 😒 I think they're just trying to force as many AI features as possible, even when there's no real need for them. Why should I generate images with AI when I can create them much better myself?
