The European Parliament passed the first AI act: requirements for business and regulation of artificial intelligence
The article examines the new legislation in the European Union on artificial intelligence, known as the "AI Act", which establishes standards and requirements for the development, implementation and use of artificial intelligence systems, ensuring the ethics, fairness and safety of this technology.
EU AI Act
Scope
The new law on artificial intelligence will have an extraterritorial effect, that is, it will apply not only to companies within the European Union, but also to any entities that put into operation or place on the EU market products with artificial intelligence, regardless of their location. Its requirements will apply not only to developers, but also to importers, distributors and users of AI systems.
Prohibited practices
The AI Act prohibits the use of artificial intelligence for the purpose of intentionally misleading or manipulating people that can significantly affect their ability to make informed decisions. Emotion recognition systems in workplaces or educational institutions are also prohibited, except for medical or security purposes.
Requirements for high-risk systems
For high-risk artificial intelligence systems used in critical special requirements are set in important fields, such as medicine, education, and law enforcement. Their suppliers are obliged to compile and constantly update technical documentation, and users must inform employees about the use of such systems.
Transparency
The act requires transparency in the operation of high-risk artificial intelligence systems so that users can adequately understand and use the data obtained from them. It also provides for the obligation to inform users about interaction with artificial intelligence and to mark content generated by AI.
Generative AI and deep fake
For generative AI models, such as ChatGPT or Gemini, requirements are set for the development and constant updating of technical documentation, as well as the publication of reports about the content used to teach them. There are also rules for marking content created using deep fake technology, in order to ensure transparency and responsibility in the use of this technology.

While I support the idea of regulating AI, I am concerned that over-regulation may stifle innovation and growth in the field. A balance needs to be found between security and innovation. 🤔

These new AI laws are a waste of time and effort. Technology is always ahead of regulation, so these rules will need to be revised soon anyway. It is better to focus on real problems and not on temporary solutions. 😒

Wondering how this regulation will affect companies that develop chatbots and other AI-based applications? Their approaches to data collection and processing will have to be reviewed. 💻

I like that the regulation takes into account different levels of risk from AI systems. This will allow more strict regulation of high-risk applications, but not create unnecessary obstacles for low-risk ones. 👍
Luisa
I heard that the regulation will have a separate section on the rights of people who interact with AI systems. This is very important to ensure transparency and control. 🙌

I wonder how these new regulations will affect the use of AI in industries such as medicine or finance. Safety and ethics issues need to be studied very carefully there. 🏥💰
