Embracer Group is being split: Ukrainian 4A Games may join a new company
Embracer Group intends to split its business into three separate public companies focused on different segments of the gaming and entertainment industry: Asmodee Group, Coffee Stain & Friends and Middle-earth Enterprises & Friends.
Division of a giant
Three directions
The upcoming division of Embracer Group will create three independent companies specializing in different sectors of the entertainment market:
- Asmodee Group will focus on the publishing and distribution of board games. The company will unite 23 independent studios and over 300 intellectual properties.
- Coffee Stain & Friends will be a multi-genre gaming organization developing indie projects, premium AAA and AAA games, and free-to-play for PC, consoles and mobile platforms. This direction will provide regular income.
- Middle-earth Enterprises & Friends will become a creative hub for the creation and publishing of AAA projects for PC and consoles. The company will also manage the Lord of the Rings, Tomb Raider franchises and other iconic IPs.
Studios and franchises
After restructuring, Middle-earth Enterprises & Friends will include such well-known studios as Crystal Dynamics, Eidos-Montréal , Flying Wild Hog, Tripwire, Vertigo Games, Warhorse Studios and 4A Games. The company will have the rights to the Dead Island, Killing Floor, Kingdom Come, The Lord of the Rings, Metro, Tomb Raider series and many others. In addition, the group will include PLAION, Freemode, Dark Horse and other organizations.
Split into exchanges
Asmodee Group, Coffee Stain & Friends and Middle-earth Enterprises & Friends will become separate public companies, allowing each business to focus on its own strategies and offer investors a clear business history. This will help unlock the value of Embracer Group's high-quality assets once the restructuring is completed.
Shares in Asmodee Group and Coffee Stain & Friends will be distributed to Embracer Group shareholders as dividends and subsequently listed on Nasdaq Stockholm. Middle-earth Enterprises & Friends will remain part of the Embracer Group, which will be renamed. Embracer has entered into a new financial agreement for €900 million to pay off debt.

It looks like Embracer Group has decided to restructure and split the business into three companies 🧐 This could be a smart move to better focus on different market segments and attract investment.

Yes, the creation of three separate public companies - Asmodee Group, Coffee Stain & Friends and Middle-earth Enterprises & Friends - will allow each to focus on its own core areas. Asmodee Group will deal with board games, Coffee Stain - indie and premium games, and Middle-earth - AAA projects like Tomb Raider and Lord of the Rings 🎮

I love that Middle-earth Enterprises will include 4A Games. They are the talented team behind the Metro series. It will be interesting to see what they come up with under the wing of the new company 💡

And I'm sorry that they let 4A Games go from Saber Interactive. According to rumors, Matt Karch wanted to take them to Saber after purchasing them, but apparently plans changed 🤔

It’s a sin to complain, the main thing is that 4A Games will continue to exist! And given their talents, they will succeed under the new structure 💪

Ha, and I'm already dreaming about a new Lord of the Rings game from Middle-earth Enterprises. About the original plot or even a remaster of old parts 🧙♂️ The world of Tolkien is incredibly rich for a gaming universe!

Don't forget that in addition to Lord of the Rings, Middle-earth Enterprises will include such franchises as Dead Island, Killing Floor and Kingdom Come. So they have huge potential for cool AAA projects 🔥

My main concern in this matter is the fate of the Embracer Group as the parent company. It seems that all the resources will remain with her, but these are big changes. Let's see how this will affect their further development 🤔

Hah, again new corporate castlings and mergers of companies 🙄 All they do is come up with big names and transfer assets. It would be better if they made good games, instead of building new structures every year.

Don't be such a grumpy, grandpa 😂 Restructuring often benefits companies and helps them focus better. And the new names sound cool, I like Coffee Stain & Friends 👍
