New fraud scheme: HR impostor and suspicious offers for UX/UI designers
IT Scam Alert: An impostor is posing as an HR manager, offering fake job openings and requiring non-disclosure agreements to be signed in order to obtain confidential information from applicants.
The truth revealed
Suspicious interview
UX/UI designer Victoria Dzhus faced a new fraudulent scheme. The unknown person introduced himself as the HR manager of the ZIO-soft company and insistently demanded to sign an offer and a non-disclosure agreement. However, the company itself knew nothing about him. And his name on Telegram was different from what was indicated in his profile.
Victoria received a job offer through a Telegram bot with a vacancy inserted. When communicating with “HR Anton Korol”, the girl was alarmed by several points: automatic deletion of messages, reluctance to provide a link to the company’s website, communication only in Russian and without video.
Questionable documents
Contrary to fears, Anton almost immediately declared that Victoria was suitable for them. This was followed by a proposal to conclude a confidentiality agreement and sign the offer. However, it was impossible to find information about the company, the contents of the documents seemed strange, and the HR manager’s LinkedIn profile looked empty.
In particular, the profile indicated that the person was a graduate of Alfred Nobel University. But further attempts to contact the manager and team were unsuccessful.
Exposure
After consulting with colleagues, Victoria decided to continue the investigation. After contacting a popular IT forum, it turned out that such a person really does not work in the company. Experts suggested that scammers are trying to obtain confidential data by signing an agreement or offering a paid “internship.”
Other users also shared similar experiences of communicating with this “HR”, confirming the fraudulent nature of his actions.
