News analysis for credibility
In Ukraine, the web resource "Fake Calculator" was launched, aimed at helping users in recognizing manipulative content. The platform offers a set of questions, divided into five thematic blocks, for a detailed analysis of a news article. The user must study the publication and answer questions about its source, style, use of epithets or emotional coloring. Based on the answers, the calculator estimates the probability of the truthfulness of the submitted material.
Free access and educational materials
The website "Fake Calculator" is available for free use around the clock without registration, including for Ukrainians in the temporarily occupied territories. In addition to the news checking tool, the resource offers an educational course, webinars and trainings on media literacy that will be held this summer in Kyiv, Khmelnytskyi, Ternopil and Lutsk.
Cooperation to combat disinformation
The "Fake Calculator" project is the result of cooperation between the Association of Innovation and of digital education, the Media Detector, the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine and the National Democratic Institute within the All-Ukrainian Project "Information Security". The main goal of the initiative is to provide Ukrainians with tools for critical perception of media content and countering disinformation.

I often come across fake news on social networks 😕 Good to have such a useful resource for checking information! But why do we need epithets and emotions to evaluate the news?
Наталія
Epithets and emotions can be a sign of manipulation or false information. For example, if the news causes strong emotions, but does not contain facts, it may be fake 🤔
Ольга
Wondering exactly how this fake calculator works? Does it take into account the source of the news and the authority of the resource? 🧐
Віктор
Yes, Olga, one of the blocks of the calculator checks whether the news is published on the official websites of government bodies or authoritative mass media. This is a very important factor for assessing the veracity of information 👍
Григорій
Well, what kind of nonsense is this fake calculator? 😒 They are not fakes at all, just different views on events. Who even defines what is fake? Everything is subjective in this world!
Ольга
Grigory, fakes are intentionally spread false information aimed at misleading people. It's clearly not just "different views" 🧐 That's why it's important to be able to recognize them and fight misinformation.
Андрій
It is good that the site also has educational courses on media literacy. This is very relevant nowadays, when the information space is filled with manipulations and fakes 📚
Наталія
Yes, media literacy is vital in today's world! 💻 It is interesting that the courses will be available in different formats - webinars, trainings in different cities of Ukraine. It is convenient for everyone!
