Streamer Adin Ross's deepfake made a fan smash his PlayStation 4 for falsely promising a PS5
Controversial streamer Adin Ross was the subject of a new incident: with the help of AI, his fans were tricked into destroying their own property for promised but unrealistic rewards.
Fake Ross
Deception from a fake streamer
Using advanced technology, a user under the pseudonym JohnJam11703 created a deep fake of the image of a famous video blogger. Thanks to the Hugging Face artificial intelligence repository, the Monkey program, and recordings of Ross's streams, he was able to create a convincing digital double. This fake Adin Ross convinced teenagers to break their own things in exchange for bogus rewards.
Destructive promises
In the released videos, pseudo-Ross persuaded minors to damage property. One boy threw a PlayStation 4 out of the window, hoping to get a TV and a PS5. Another had to break the TV screen for the slim prospect of getting $500. In the most viral video, the child was promised an expensive car and $20,000 if he broke through the wall in his room. Believing this, the boy committed an act of vandalism, but, of course, did not receive the money or car.
Viewer reaction
Commentators were divided in their assessment of the incident: some considered it horrifying, others - funny and educational. The situation demonstrated how gullible teenagers can be in the pursuit of fame. However, the victims suffered real material damage, the consequences of which are still unknown.

Of course, it's a prank, but it's still annoying to see kids ruin things 😕 Although, maybe this will teach them a lesson to be more vigilant.

I don’t understand how people can believe such deepfakes 🤔 This is an obvious fake! Although it is made of very high quality, we must pay tribute.

I find it funny 😂 People are too gullible, and this prank shows how dangerous it is to mindlessly believe everything on the Internet.

@GrosseGrompy I disagree with you. Technology has nothing to do with it, the problem is human naivety and thirst for popularity 🤷♂️

This shows how easy it is to deceive people with the help of modern technology 😲 We need to be very careful and critical of what we see on the Internet.

I think streamers should also be responsible for the fact that their fans push themselves to extremes for their attention 🤔 They encourage this behavior with promises of rewards.
FrancescoM
@OlenaF I agree, streamers often provoke dangerous behavior for the sake of hype and views 👍

I'm more concerned that this deepfake technology could be used for malicious purposes 😕 Imagine if a fake politician or celebrity started spreading misinformation!

It’s good that it was just a prank and no one was hurt 🥲 But I think the use of such technologies needs to be somehow regulated.

Modern technologies provide enormous opportunities for creativity and entertainment 😎 But, as with everything, you need to know when to stop and not cause harm.

In any case, this raises many questions about ethics and the boundaries of what is acceptable on the Internet 🧐 I wonder how this situation will develop further.
