AMD Ryzen 9000: key details of new processors based on Zen 5 architecture revealed
AMD plans to unveil its new line of high-performance Ryzen 9000 processors at Computex 2024, with new products expected to be released in July of the same year. The leaked data reveals the main characteristics of four models of chips with Zen 5 architecture, as well as their expected prices.
Ryzen 9000 processors
Flagship Ryzen 9 models
The top-end Ryzen 9 9950X chip will have 16 cores and 32 threads capable of operating at clock speeds up to 5.7 GHz. The processor will be equipped with 80 MB cache and have a TDP of 170 W. The Ryzen 9 9900X model will offer 12 cores and 24 threads with a maximum frequency of 5.6 GHz, 76 MB cache and a TDP of 120 W. It is worth noting that compared to the previous generation, the new Ryzen 9 flagships have a 50 W lower TDP.
Ryzen 7 and Ryzen 5 processors
The eight-core Ryzen 7 9700X will feature 16 threads and will be able to operate at frequencies up to 5.5 GHz. The processor will have 40 MB cache and a TDP of 65 W. The younger model Ryzen 5 9600X will be a six-core chip with 12 threads and a maximum clock frequency of 5.4 GHz with a TDP of 65 W. Both processors have a 100 MHz higher maximum frequency and a lower TDP compared to their predecessors (65 W versus 105 W).
Release dates and prices
According to available information, AMD Ryzen 9000 processors are scheduled for release July 2024. Along with the new CPUs, the company will also present X870 and B850 series motherboards with socket AM5. Suggested retail prices for the Ryzen 9000 chips are expected to be comparable to the current generation Ryzen 7000. If so, the Ryzen 9 9950X will cost $699, the Ryzen 9 9900X will cost $549, the Ryzen 7 9700X will cost $399, and the Ryzen 5 9600X will cost $299 . All new processors must be compatible with existing and future socket AM5 motherboards.

The new Ryzen 9000 processors sound promising! I'm glad AMD is keeping prices competitive despite the performance improvements. 🔥 I'm especially excited about the 5.7 GHz overclock on the flagship 9950X!

Yes, the reduction in TDP compared to the previous generation is great news for those concerned about energy efficiency. But I doubt I'll need as much performance as the 9950X. The 9700X may be the best choice for a gaming PC.

Did you notice that the 9900X has 4MB less cache than the 9950X? I wonder how this will impact performance in multi-threaded workloads. 🤔 Anyway, I'm looking forward to the new X870 and B850 upgrade boards.

Guys, do not forget that this data is still unofficial. But if prices do indeed remain at the same level as the Ryzen 7000, then AMD has clearly made the right move. 👍 I'm personally looking at the 9700X as a potential replacement for my old processor.

Again this hype around new processors? 🙄 Modern chips already cope with all tasks. Why constantly strive for better performance? People are too caught up in these pointless trends.
