RWGFY Chrome extension: new features for tracking Russian sites
Ukrainian IT company Softum has updated the RWGFY (Russian Websites - Go To***) app for the Chrome browser, adding new features to track Russia's footprint on the Internet and provide your own assessment.
New features of RWGFY
Detection of Russian sites
Now in Google search you can immediately see whether the web resource is of Russian origin. The check is carried out according to the following criteria: domain registration phone, registration area, registration e-mail and the domain itself. According to the developers, this does not affect the page loading speed.
Trust rating for web resources
A trust rating for the site appeared, which determined by users through the answer to a question about trust or distrust of him. The rating is visible both in the search results and on the web page itself. The app icon changes depending on the current trust level.
Rating of profiles in social networks
Users can rate the trust rating of profiles in social networks, such as Facebook, X or Instagram. To do this, you need to go to the person's page, click on the application icon and express your trust or distrust. However, for the rating to become known to others, at least 10 votes are required.
Replacing words on sites and in search
The extension allows you to replace words on web resources and in search. For example, the function of replacing "On" with "In" is enabled by default when referring to Ukraine. However, users can experiment with replacing other words, in particular the surname of the president of the Russian Federation.
Currently, the application is used by about 3 thousand people per day. The project does not yet have monetization, but it contains a link to the "Come Back Alive" fund for donations. The developers are working on improving the existing functionality, analyzing YouTube channels and integrating artificial intelligence. It is also planned to enter the international market for possible monetization.
