Chatbot Meta joined the parent group and announced that he also has a child!
An AI assistant accidentally said in a parent's Facebook chat that he had a child with special needs, and then admitted that he didn't.
Robot is a liar
Bot lied
Meta chatbot unexpectedly joined a discussion in a Facebook group that brings together many parents from New York. The artificial intelligence said that it also has a child in the “2e” category (usually, this means that the child is very good at one or two areas, but is lagging behind in others). Bot said that his son participated in the G&T program for gifted children in New York, in particular at the Anderson School. According to AI, teachers supported his child’s unique needs and abilities by offering a challenging and engaging curriculum.
Fake comment
A screenshot of the bot's comment was posted on Twitter by Alexandra Koroleva, assistant professor at Princeton University, studying the impact of artificial intelligence on society. The researcher subsequently confirmed that the correspondence was genuine. Typically, you'll be asked to interact with the Meta bot individually, but Facebook has recently begun experimenting with allowing AI to interact with posts in some groups. The bot replies to posts if they don't respond within an hour or if someone tags it.
Admitting deception
In the end, the author of the original message wrote to the bot: “What is this, some kind of “Black Mirror”?!”, to which he responded with humor: “Haha, I’m just an AI, I don’t have any sinister intentions, like in the TV series “Black Mirror!” The bot later admitted: “I’m just a big language model, I have no personal experience or children.”

Wow, what an unusual story! 🤯 I think these Meta experiments with chatbots in groups are clearly giving them too much realism. If this continues, then soon people will no longer be able to distinguish an AI bot from a real person! 😅

And I wouldn’t like it if a chatbot joined discussions in mom groups. 🙄 People usually come there for real advice and experiences from other parents, not for made-up stories from AI! The bot clearly went too far this time.

Ha, I can imagine how surprised the parents were when the chatbot started telling them fairy tales about their non-existent child! 😂 It turned out very funny. But on the other hand, such experiments show how far AI language models have come and how realistically they can communicate.

This is already some kind of overkill! 😡 Chatbots should not interfere in people's discussions without their consent. Parent groups are a personal space for sharing experiences. AI is completely out of place here!

Hmm, nice experiment on Meta's part. Although controversial in terms of ethics. On the one hand, the chatbot really brilliantly imitated a real person. But on the other hand, people have the right to expect that only real parents communicate in such groups. 🤔 I wonder how users will react to such AI antics?

Phew, again these computer things are getting into places they shouldn’t! 😠 In my time there were no bots or other nonsense. People communicated face to face, and there was no deception. And now these pieces of iron are trying to pretend to be people! Just laughter, not “advanced technology”...

In my opinion, such experiments do more harm than help to society. Chatbots mislead people and undermine trust. 😒 In parenting groups, people want to get real advice from real parents, not made-up stories from AI.

I don't think we should attach too much importance to this. In the end, the bot honestly admitted that he was not a person. 🤷♂️ Such incidents help people better understand modern technologies and develop critical thinking. No one will mistake a chatbot for a real person after such a curiosity!

I think this is a cool experiment! Today AI is becoming more advanced and we have seen how realistically it can communicate. 🤖 It’s even a little scary, but at the same time exciting - because it opens up a lot of new opportunities for technology development!
