Global tariff increases
Information about a significant increase in YouTube subscription prices is spreading around the world. Users in Europe, South America and Asia are reporting upcoming tariff changes.
European countries under attack
A significant jump in prices is expected in a number of European countries. For example, in Belgium, Italy, Ireland and the Netherlands, the cost of the YouTube family plan will increase from 17.99 to 25.99 euros per month. The annual subscription will reach an impressive amount of 311.88 euros.
Other countries are not far behind
Switzerland is also preparing for a price increase: the YouTube family plan will rise from 23.90 to 33.90 Swiss francs. In Sweden, an increase is expected from SEK 179 to SEK 279. Users from Singapore, Colombia and Saudi Arabia also report similar trends.
Timing and scope of changes
New tariffs are planned to be introduced in November 2024. Previously, price increases have already affected the United States, where the cost of the Premium subscription increased from $11.99 to $13.99, and the Family tariff from $17.99 to $22.99.
Situation in Ukraine
At the moment, prices in Ukraine remain the same. An individual subscription costs 99 UAH per month, a family subscription - 149 UAH. A discounted rate is provided for students - 59 UAH per month.
YouTube Strategy
In parallel with the price increase, YouTube is strengthening its efforts to attract users to paid subscriptions. New methods include showing ads when paused and restrictions for accounts using ad blockers, including forced video rewinding, limiting the number of videos you can watch, and slowing down the site.

Wow, YouTube is completely insolent! 😡 Raising prices at a time like this... It’s already expensive, and now it’s space. Maybe there are alternatives?
Hans
Yes, Olivia, this is a shock. But let's think about it - maybe this is a chance to discover new platforms? I've heard about Vimeo and Dailymotion. Has anyone tried it?
Sophie
Hans, I use Vimeo for work. There is less distracting content, but the choice is narrower. But I don’t know anything about Dailymotion. Does anyone know what's going on with advertising? 🤔
Carlos
Sophie, there are ads on Dailymotion, but not as intrusive as on YouTube. True, there is less content there. Maybe you should just put up with advertising on YouTube and not pay? 🤷♂️
Gerhard
Ha! You young people are always looking for how to bypass the system. But in my opinion, there is no point in wasting time on these videos. Better read a book or go to the park. It will save you money and be better for your health.
Olivia
Gerhard, times are changing! YouTube is not just entertainment, there is a lot of educational content. But you're right, maybe we should reconsider our time spent online. 🤔 How about balance?
Hans
What if you team up and buy a family subscription? It will be cheaper for everyone. Who's in favor? 💡
Sophie
Hans, great idea! 👍 I'm in. Maybe we can create a group on Telegram for coordination? This way we’ll save money and won’t give up our favorite content.
