VPN on Copilot+ PC: solving problems with native Arm versions
Most VPN apps cannot be installed on Copilot+-enabled PCs because they are designed for x86/x64 architecture, not Arm. This limitation has been a feature of Windows on Arm systems for many years and is still not resolved on new computers with Copilot+.
VPN problem
Unable to install
The first Copilot+ PCs have gone on sale, and reviewers have identified a significant flaw in these devices. x86/x64 VPN apps will not install on Arm-based PCs running Copilot+. The Windows Prism emulator does not provide a workaround for this issue. Of the popular VPN solutions, only Surfshark has a native version for Arm.
VPN usage options
Copilot+ PC laptop owners are forced to look for alternative ways to connect to a VPN. The easiest option is to use a web browser extension if your provider offers such a solution. However, this only protects browser traffic, not other programs. You can also configure the built-in Windows VPN client by entering credentials from your ISP. Another way out is to organize a VPN for the entire local network.
Ignoring the problem
Despite the active promotion of Copilot+ PCs by Microsoft, Qualcomm and manufacturers , the problem of incompatibility with VPN applications remains unresolved. This limitation has existed for Windows on Arm systems for many years, but it was not given due attention when Copilot+ was launched.

I recently purchased a Surface Laptop with a Copilot+ processor and was disappointed when my favorite VPN didn't work on the system. 😔 You'll have to look for alternatives or wait for an update from the developers.

Using the built-in VPN in Windows is a good option, but only if your ISP provides credentials for it. 💻 Although a browser extension can also work if you only use a VPN on the Internet.

I don't really understand why Microsoft and Qualcomm didn't solve this problem in advance. 🤔 After all, Copilot+ PC is their joint project, they had to think about compatibility with popular programs.

Great, the more choice, the better. 👍 I hope that over time, other VPN developers will pay attention to this problem and release compatible versions.
