Battle of giants: Apple and Samsung set their sights on buying Intel
Intel, which is going through difficult times, could become an acquisition target. Potential buyers include not only Qualcomm, but also technology giants Samsung and Apple, who are interested in the company's production facilities and intellectual property.
The future of Intel
Intel's financial difficulties
Intel has been facing some serious problems lately. Following large-scale staff reductions and the decision to spin off the manufacturing segment into a separate division, the financial report showed losses in excess of $2 billion, primarily due to restructuring. In addition, Intel abandoned the construction of a plant in Germany worth about $30 billion. As a result of these events, NVIDIA is seeking to take Intel's place in the Dow Jones index, demonstrating more successful performance.
Problems with processors
The situation with Intel processors also leaves much to be desired. The Thirteenth and Fourteenth generations (Meteor Lake) suffered from instability that has only recently been partially resolved. The latest Intel Core Ultra 200S (Arrow Lake) processors have not had significant success in the market due to the lack of significant performance gains and the need to replace the motherboard. At the same time, AMD has been supporting its platform for almost a decade, even with the release of new models.
Potential Buyers
In light of these circumstances, a sale to Intel seems likely. Earlier it became known about Qualcomm's intentions to acquire the company, but the process was temporarily suspended due to the upcoming elections in the United States.
Apple's interest in buying Intel may seem surprising, given that the company has a long history of developing its own ARM-based processors. However, potential instability in Taiwan, where TSMC is located, could make acquiring the US company an attractive option. In addition, this could weaken the position of competitor Qualcomm.
Samsung is also seen as a potential buyer. Given the lackluster performance of the Exynos line, additional production capacity could benefit the company. However, any such deal may face serious opposition from American antitrust authorities, as happened with the attempted takeover of ARM by NVIDIA.
Skepticism and Prospects
These rumors should be treated with caution. The primary source of information, YouTube channel Moore's Law is Dead, sometimes publishes provocative statements that are not confirmed by other sources and are not implemented. Overall, the likelihood of anyone acquiring Intel entirely seems unlikely, although the sale of individual divisions is not excluded.

Wow, can Intel really be sold? 😮 This will be just a bomb for the market! Who would have thought that such a giant would be in such a position.
Hans
Yes, Sophia, that would be something! But I'm more surprised by Apple's interest. Why do they need Intel if they have their own ARM processors? 🤔 Maybe they want to completely control production?
Pierre
Hans, I think it's a matter of risk diversification. The situation with Taiwan is unstable, and TSMC is there. Apple may want to hedge their bets 🛡️ And Intel technology wouldn’t hurt them either.
Isabella
But it seems to me that Samsung is the most logical buyer here. They have experience in chip production, but Exynos doesn’t work out very well. Intel would be very useful to them! 💪
Oleksandr
Come on guys. This is all bullshit. Intel will not be sold, these are just rumors. The company is too big and important for the US. Antimonopoly officials will not miss such a deal, just remember the story with ARM and NVIDIA.
Sophia
Oleksandr, maybe you’re right about the antimonopoly authorities. But you must admit, Intel is now really in decline. What is the cost of failure with 13th and 14th generations of processors alone 😓 Maybe a new owner is just what is needed!
Carlos
What if Qualcomm still buys it? 🤔 They already had an interest. Imagine what a breakthrough this will be for mobile technology! Maybe we will finally see truly powerful ARM processors for laptops.
Hans
Carlos, great idea! Qualcomm + Intel would be something. But I'm afraid the price will be astronomical. Although, given Intel’s $2 billion losses, maybe they will bargain 💰 In any case, it will be interesting to follow the developments!
